I disargree, surely the red sox and white sox were purposely spelt that way to only sound like the word "socks" and I am sure that the maple leafs were well aware of the spelling of their name. So they do not contain any misspelt words at all, only words that are spelt in such a manner they sound like other words.
it was an interteresting teaser I never would have noticed the mispelt words before thanks.
The teaser doesn't have too many more mispelled words in it than the above two comments. I thought this was a great teaser. I also found it a little tricky. Nice job.
I thought it was cute! Thanks for posting it.
lol i wud have never guessed! nice job! very clever
Sorry, but I disagree with you, Mad-Ade. In my opinion, this Teaser is completely fine.
If someone knows how 'socks' is pronounced but doesn't know the spelling, he would most probably try to write something that sounds like 'socks' (In this case, 'sox', which is the wrong spelling).
Hence, these words are considered misspelt, simply because they are not spelt correctly. We do not have to look deeply into whether they sound the same or not.
Hope you understood my answer!

I do, but if the word was deliberately spelt Sox, then because it is a name (which it is), it is not wrong. If you were describing a pair of "red Socks" in a written piece and used "Sox" then, I agree it would be incorrect. But the RED SOX is a name, and as such is correctly spelt.
Well... I still think they ar misspelt...
For example:
If someone were to spell 'hare' as 'hair', it would still be the wrong spelling even though they sound the same and both of them are actual words.
This can be confusing as 'black hare' and 'black hair' are different things. Yes, i agree that the meaning can completely change, but it would still the be person's fault for delivering the wrong word. So i think such things are still considered a spelling errors...

They are Names, therefore spelt correctly. They are like trade names, such as "Spud-U-Like" or "Toyz R Us" or "E-Z pizza" all of which are purposely spelt that way, thus making them correct.
"Red sox" is a name, not a description.

Oh i see. Thanks for your advice then (:
