| Wahoo! I got that one right! But, um, why did it have to be in the shape of a sock? |

| This is grammatically hard to follow. "She is freezing," to "...she is warm enough now," is contradictory. |

| A pocket won't work that well. The igloo is better. Actually, the igloo must be the answer. You can't be warm enough in a snow pocket. |

| You can be warm in a pocket of snow. In fact if its deep and wide you can build a fire in it and sleep on a shelf of ice if you build it properly. Ray Meares shows how its done in one of his survival programmes. |

| I said snow cave. An igloo is built on top of the snow and a lot of work. A snow cave is down in the snow and horizontal so that you are covered from above.

| The trick is good insulation (and not getting wet--which loses heat fast).
Some branches and pine needles for your snow cave provide a little insulation to rest on.
The "sock" shape may help keep the wind out.
But nothing beats warm clothes and boots--and a cell phone which can help anyone locate you. |

| A snow cave or igloo would work, just be sure to stay dry (as has been mentioned) and to keep the entrance low, so that heat doesn't flow out as readily. It is also wise to have a sloped or rounded ceiling (not flat) to keep the melting snow against the wall of the structure and off of you |

| Nice puzzle, even though I took like an hour to get the answer.
When you think about it, the phrase "the snow is protecting her from the cold" seems kind of weird when you don't Know what's going on! |
