What would stop one from taking 17 and 21 as the next two numbers? Both have nine letters.
Then 24 and 25 with 10 letters each.
The instructions did say that the numbers had to be consecutive.
Then 24 and 25 with 10 letters each.
The instructions did say that the numbers had to be consecutive.
Firstly, the instructions DO NOT say the numbers had to be consecutive.
Secondly, whilst your answer is correct in one sense, one of your numbers is only ONE word (seventeen) and the other number is made up of a hyphenated word (twenty-one). Whilst containing the same amount of letters, they are not alike in the way they are composed; so not similar in that sense.
The answer: eighteen and nineteen both contain 8 letters and each is similar to each other in that they comprise one word. The next two words in my answer, (21 & 22) are once again similar in that they contain the same number of letters (9) and comprise two hyphenated words.
I am happy you had a go at the puzzle and took the trouble to give some feedback. Thank you.

Firstly, my bad, meant to say "did not" was multitasking.
Secondly, if you're going to start getting picky about how the words are composed, then we might need to look at syllables as well. Seven has two, eight has one. (that might be a good teaser in itself..."when is seven one more than eight?")
Just giving you a hard time...thanks for all the teasers, you submit a bunch of them!

Who's being picky? You are the one who challenged the teaser. I made a suggestion based on your poor English. I am not a mind reader on what you may or may not have intended to say.
Why are you giving me a hard time as you suggest? All I did was submit a teaser for the enjoyment of people here. It becomes very annoying when people (usually those who have never bothered to submit even one teaser), pontificate about how a teaser should have been written after it has been through the rigors of the editing process.

Great teaser Jazz! It made total sense to me.
VikingBoy, settle down and stop being a pest!
VikingBoy, settle down and stop being a pest!
This was a very challenging puzzle. I didn't get it right, but when I saw the answer it made perfect sense! Another terrific teaser from you!
I also agree with the previous comments directed at VikingBoy! VikingBoy, if you don't have anything worthwhile to say, please refrain from commenting. I prefer the answer given to the one you suggested.

to Jazz, Captain and Fredrick
Wow, you all seem rather uptight.
One, my first post I was just asking why two other numbers might work...I did not put in a correction, was just asking. Yep, I forgot a word (just for reference, that's not poor english, it's just sloppy typing).
My second post was written in the same format as Jazz used in his reply, so I guess if you thought it was somehow out of line, we're both at fault.
jazz, as to your comment regarding me being a pest, and how people that comment never submit teasers...I have submitted teasers, though not nearly to your level, however, I did acknowledge that in my post, and thanked you for submitting so many.
I call em as I see em, sorry if my suggestion that two additional answers might qualify upset you.

Great teaser Jazz!
Viking Boy, I think you owe Jazzmusician an apology. The way I read this, Jazzmusician didn't call you a pest. It was Captain Kilarney! Jazzmusician was commenting generally about those who don't submit teasers and sit back and criticize. I think you need to step back and read what is said properly before you start shooting from the hip!

I cannot believe how ridiculous this has become - all over a teaser!
Also I think it's a bit rude of you to suggest that I called you a pest when I did not!
I cannot make any comments on what the other people have said, other than they seem to have interpreted your remarks as a little aggressive - to which you even admitted to giving me a hard time.
I don't particularly care if you agree with my teaser/s, like them or hate them; I am only here to have fun.
If you read carefully the final comments of my first posting, I thanked you for having a go at the puzzle and taking the time to comment, after which you started giving me 'a hard time'.

ummm. okay, maybe a quick English lesson is in order...
You made a very clear reference to me (more specifically my actions) as annoying. Annoying...pest...whatever. You called me out for asking a question regarding the possibility of an alternative solution. Sorry, but that seems to be an accepted practice on this site, given one does it with respect, which I did.
Given that you lumped me in with people that critic without submitting any of their own work, I took that as offensive. My bad.

Yikes, lots of feelings on this teaser.
Not sure as I'm not really involved, but maybe it's a cultural difference.
In America, if you start with "Firstly" and start listing why the other person is wrong, it comes across as preaching.
To then go and blast someone because of what others do, is unfair to say the least.
I say, everyone to their corners, and at the bell come out swinging. Or, move on to the next teaser, which is what I intend to do!

Wow...amazing coments.
It seems Viking Boy can hand out criticism but he can't take it, he has to have the last word, plus he's giving an English lesson, yet his grammar is appalling!

Ahh Viking Boy...pride, pride, pride...
Hey Artie, Sweet rosey, Fredrick and Captain,
something is not kosher...you all never play games, never seem to do much except comment on Jazz's teasers...you all start on this site at almost the same time...odd
Must be me.
