Moving up through the ranks (this is a list of military ranks; one letter in each of the ranks is uppercase; the uppercase letters spell "moving" from bottom to top, or up).Hide Answer Show Answer

Fun teaser, good job.
I'm surprised I got it. Great teaser! Very creative.
I dont understand it

Easy but fun and clever! Nice rebus, cnmne!
i got the answer but clever thinking
Two thumbs up! Another good one, cnmne
Good teaser but this ticks me off because I had a teaser rejected because "letters going up or down are now longer accepted"

TIO MIGUEL!
good one
WOW. bravo! JUST PLAIN AMAZING! LOVED IT.
Pretty easy for me ( the title gave me a hint). Good teaser though. Pretty creative to.
Nice rebus. I didn't get the correct answer, but still find it very clever. Thanks for posting.
Well done. very clever!
I can buy the word moving, but your rank category is completly out of wack. You went from Admiral down to Sargeant
I agree with Doehead. If the rankings were in order, it would have been perfect!
Very nice!
I got "moving up" but I never did think of "ranks"
Fun!

Fun!
doehead - I think the "MOVING" going up takes care of that. The ranks are just ranks, and the "MOVING" goes upward through them.
At first, I was a little confused because there wasn't any order to the ranks, too.

That's a cool teaser! I was waaaaay off on the answer though :I
Very clever, and a little easy, but I enjoyed it all the same. Thanks.
easy and fun!!! good!
NICE!!
Easy!! And very clever!!
a fun and easy rebus... great job and keep up the good work!!!
Good fun
Well done!
Great!!! fun, tricky, and clever! Keep 'em coming!
Technically it's not really moving up, since each rank isn't successively higher...
It's "moving" up - that's the first past and the second part refers to a list of officers i.e. 'the ranks'. It doesn't necessarily have to describe "the whole thing"! I liked it!
I thought it was great!!!
one of my favorites so far!

Clever
One of the best for sure. The "moving up" is perfectly given; no need for ordered ranks. Great one to remember in Fav's Box.
While technically it is true that the teaser still works even though the ranks are out of order, it would just make more sense for them to be listed properly. I would say starting with the highest rank on the top so that the ranks also "move up".
It works either way, but I personally like things to be neat and orderly.

The ranks can't be put in order as they aren't all in the same branch. General and Admiral are equal ranks in different branches. Admiral and Ensign are Naval/Coast Guard ranks while the rest are Army/Air Force/Marines.
Excellent!!
That was a clever teaser. I saw MOVING up and different ranks. I agree with those who said it didn't matter that the ranks weren't listed in any order. It was easy for me and I enjoyed it. Let's not make it complicated! Thanks and hello old friends!
AWOR and I stick with my original statement. And for all that don't know; I have a great wife and two ladyfriends(G&S).
I've seen this before, although I hadn't already written on it, but it occurs to me that if the ranks were in any form of proper order, the word 'moving' would not be spelled out (ie: admiral is the only one with an 'm') and therefore would be near impossible to solve.

The answer should be something like "breaking ranks" instead of moving up the ranks since they are out of order. Also, the ranks used are from more than one branch of service.
It makes perfect sense to me. MOVING is going up, and it is in the middle of each word. Every word is a rank they don't have to be in order, the word MOVING is still going through them.
Still easy, but fun. Hi to K & G.
That was an amazing, and I mean AMAZING, teaser! It was pretty easy, too!
not bad, not bad. that was awesome.
It can hardly be called moving up in the ranks when they are out of order, and the navy is mixed with the army. Not right at all. A colonel can not move up to and admiral. This one is totally out of whack no matter what it spells going up. Wrong, wrong, wrong!!!
With the ranks out of order, if you got ride of the word "up" the answer would become "Moving through the ranks". Not sure how the military works these days, but back when I was growing up as a base brat, it was not uncommon to be knocked down a few ranks, even for something you did in your "civi life" if it was felt that your actions shone an unfavourable light on the military. It was quite possible t move up and down.
Got it-but didn't know why I guessed it until I looked at the answer.
Easy, simple. It doesn't matter what order the ranks are, MOVING is going up them. Time to MOVE on.
I take back what I said in 2014. Everyone, including me, has missed the point of the teaser. It makes no difference if the ranks are out of order or not. It is fixed that way so the word " Moving" can move up through them. It took me 3 years to figure that one out.
A good rebus puzzle. I don't think it needed to be in rank order.
I loved this puzzle and got the answer easily. The comments always make me laugh. Hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful autumn!
That was pretty fun teaser, but I didn't notice the "I" was capitalized in "ensign" and thought ensign must be part of the clue. Oh well!
Fun, easy and entertaining teaser; I got it very quickly.
