Group B: John Quincy Adams, Chester Arthur, Theodore Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson
Group A: John Tyler, Millard Fillmore, Andrew Johnson, Gerald Ford
Group B: John Quincy Adams, Chester Arthur, Theodore Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson
Answer
The presidents in Group A were never elected president. John Tyler finished William Harrison's first term, Millard Fillmore finished Zachary Taylor's first term, Andrew Johnson finished Abraham Lincoln's second term, and Gerald Ford finished Richard Nixon's second term. Therefore, Chester Arthur, who finished James Garfield's first term, can be added to Group A.Hide Answer Show Answer

Aw shux... I almost got the reason right, but I picked Lyndon Johnson, because he had been a vice president.
Very good! I knew this because I'm in a Werewolf game where four of those presidents (Tyler, Ford, Fillmore, and Arthur) were named and we had to find out what they had in common!!
Excellent educational teaser. Thanks for posting.
The reason was pretty easy, for once. I did get partial credit, but the President, I got wrong. I thought it was Johnson, because of he replaced President Kennedy after his Assassination becoming President. And the Presidents in col. A too had become President after the death of a President. Who Knew.
