A Bunch of Animals
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.
Start with a group, a number, a bunch
of animals who like to stand still and munch.
Instructions I'll give: a new word to create,
which sounds like the first, for that is its fate.
Just stick one more letter right in the middle.
Have you listened? I have completed my riddle.
HintThe question in the last line is NOT just filler.

I didn't realize you were looking for two different words... I was thinking it might be one word that started with "herd."

Great riddle, I would never have got it. To be honest, I was thinking along the lines of panda...Oh well.

I thought it was supposed to be one word, starting with "herd", ending with a rhyming word, and one letter in the middle.

Thanks for the comments. Sorry, perryq, that it wasn't more clear.

I got the 'herd' part, but jumped immediately to 'cow', so I was trying to come up with something with the word cow. Haha. Good riddle!

Extremely easy, but I liked it. Doesn't it belong in the Language section?
