Dangerous Job
Statistically speaking, what is the most dangerous job in the U.S.?
Answer
President of the United States. Of the 43 presidents so far, 4 have been assassinated (Garfield, Kennedy, Lincoln, and McKinley). That's a fatality rate of just under 10%.Hide Answer Show Answer

offically, starting with president lincoln, the president that is elected every twenty years (1860, 1880 1990...) dies, or has an attempt on his life while in office, up until now, but we still have time before Bush is out

Interesting. I was going to say raising children.
a bit obvious, more of triva, but I still like it!
actually, there have been only 42, one of them was elected twice on non-consecutive terms. Also, the most dangerous job that is not a political office is a logger.
Well son of a gun - you're right, Mogmatt. I guess I forgot about my good buddy Grover. Good catch.
Taken straight from Mindtrap. Only reason I knew it..
Not to mention three others that have died in office: William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, and Warren Harding.
And FDR, too. Between assassination and natural causes, that's eight Presidents who failed
to live out their terms.
to live out their terms.
I was going to include Presidents that died of natural causes while in office, but that wouldn't be considered "dying on the job." I think it's best only to include people who died BECAUSE they were President. Having said that, maybe I should have included William Henry Harrison, who died from pneumonia that he caught while giving a campaign speech in a rain storm.
Actually, it was his inagural address, which
makes it even more relevant. The others are more
problematic, agreed, although it's hard to know
to what extent the stress of the job may have
contributed to their demise.

That could have been under trvia just so you know. Nice teaser.
ah, i was going to mention the other rpesidents, etc, buyt everyone else already got there... his inaugral address, by the way, was 10,000 words, delivered in the rain where he refused to wear a raincoat or whatever. Washington's inaugral, on the other hand was 100 words. and there are over 23,000 words in the American legal system regulating the sale of cabbage.... go figure.
Great job bobbrt! I liked this one... I had no idea what the answer was, though... what a surprise!
Somebody please make it 5.
