Behead G
When you behead a word, you remove the first letter and still have a valid word. You will be given clues for the two words, longer word first.
Example: Begin -> Sour, acidic
Answer: The words are Start and Tart.
1. Firm earth -> Circular
2. Tomb; serious -> Talk wildly or madly
3. Dead spirit -> Person who entertains guests
4. Spectacles -> Young maidens
5. Happy, joyous -> Youth; boy
6. Precious metal -> Advanced in years
7. Increase in size -> Move a boat with oars
8. Large boat with oars -> Narrow back street

I got them all, except for the galley one. I got the alley part, but didn't know that a there was a type of boat called a galley. Now I know!

I was halfway through before the name of the Title kicked in - the 1st word in each answer started with G - I finished even more quickly than I started! - I enjoyed this quiz very much
I was practically finished before I realized all the first words began with G!! I finally made use of that hint for the last pair--got 'alley' first. Very easy, but fun!

Are you reading "advanced in years" as a verb as in "to grow old"?
