Keep It In The Family!Mystery teasers are little stories where you need to figure out what happened based on the given clues.
My name is Carlie Hansen, and I am renowned throughout all of England for my detective skills. I have solved many murders, and I have just dealt with my most interesting and challenging case yet.
I was called down to the Mason estate to investigate the murder of Baron Emile Mason, a 54-year-old exceedingly rich man who had been discovered, shot in the back of the head, a month before I was asked to investigate. All the members of the family were adamant that a man named Henri Lyman was the culprit. "He hated Emile; Henri was poor, whilst Emile just kept getting richer. He would've happily done away with Emile," were the words of Rose Mason, Emile's niece. I visited the building where Emile had been found. It was such a picturesque building, with its cream walls, butter-yellow front door, honeysuckle and neatly pointed roof, it was very strange to think of it as a scene of a brutal murder. Being a tall woman, I banged my head on the low, flat ceiling as soon as I walked in the door. The blue carpet was stained with blood. It sent a shiver down my spine. I came home that night, feeling confused and suspicious. I had asked the relatives how Emile had amassed his fortune, but they all clammed up. I had decided not to push them further and left early. Later that week, I asked my sister Lilie, who lives in the same town as the Masons, how Emile had become so rich. Her voice immediately died down to a whisper. "Officially, he's supposed to have been the owner of an insurance company. Unofficially, everyone knows he was actually a cocaine smuggler and a miser. I think Henri was after his stash. Anyway... I gotta go, Carlie. Bye." Interesting! I searched every inch of the estate, but I couldn't find any traces of cocaine, and the relatives were constantly pleading that Emile was just a rich business owner. It was frustrating work, and I was wondering whether it was just a tall tale, until I heard on the news that Henri Lyman was in court, charged with possessing Class A drugs. After another few months of digging (this was a very long case!) I became firmly convinced that Henri had killed Emile after Emile refused to reveal the whereabouts of his cocaine stash. I had witness statements, CCTV- enough to take to court, except for one thing. Proof of the cocaine stash. Without that, my case would fall apart. Then it hit me, in a flash. I had searched every inch of the buildings. But there was one detail that seemed very fishy. There was one thing that didn't add up. And I was convinced that I had discovered the whereabouts of Emile Mason's cocaine stash. Where was Emile's drug stash hidden? What Next?
