During summer vacation, four children, Alex, Belinda, Eric, and the eldest child, spend their days at the beach. One day at lunch their mother asks: 'Did anyone go surfing this morning?'

The eldest child answers:

I wasn't paying very close attention to the others, but I think Alex and Belinda weren't together.

However, if Alex did go surfing, it wasn't alone.

If Eric surfed, Alex and Belinda were with him.

Who went surfing?
