Diver's Discovery
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.
A diver found two dead bodies in a sunken ship. One man is clutching a coin in his hand and the other man is holding a gun. Why?
HintThe dead men are both wearing naval uniforms and although the room is flooded it is an air-tight vault.

Answer
The ship, on a special mission, was hit by enemy fire and started to sink. The two naval intelligence officers found their way to the vault, which they sealed and set about destroying critical mission documents. Although the documents were destroyed they knew that in enemy hands their knowledge could jeopardise the mission, not to mention the agonising torture they could undergo; so they needed to ensure that they were not captured. Unfortunately the gun only contained one bullet, so they flipped the coin and the winner was given a quick and certain death. The other officer would need to open the vault door and die a more terrifying death by drowning - there was also the added risk that they could be captured and revived before being clinically dead (this takes about 12 minutes after you take your last breath).

Good.. but aren't questions like these ones you're supposed to be able to ask questions to? It would seem pretty hard to get the answer otherwise. Oh well.

It could just be that there wasn't a chance they could survive so it would be better to die a quick death

As in this teaser, when the answer is about 10x as long as the question, it starts to become plain dumb.

Why wouldn't one guy shoot the other guy and then shoot himself?

You forgot to mention that their middle names were Horace and Jeremy and that one of them had a sister who raised platypusses.

That was very clever! I loved it. I never even thought of the correct answer! I thought it was something like a man had found gold and the other man shot him to get it, but that didn't explain the hint and left too many loose ends. It was creative and good, no matter what all the others (who probably didn't read the whole teaser) say.

It's a good teaser if you can ask questions to gain additional information, but how you expect someone to deduce that answer from the clues you gave is beyond me, I'm afraid.
