Elevator Enigma
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.
A man enters a lift of a high rise building, takes off one glove and pushes the button for the tenth floor. The next day, the same man enters the lift, puts on one glove and pushes the button for the tenth floor. Why?
HintNote that he only had a glove on one hand.

Answer
He was blind and on the first day he realised that the buttons were touch sensitive so he had to take his glove off. Unfortunately, due to his blindness, he had to feel for the tenth button and in the process pressed every button up to the tenth floor - causing the lift to stop at every floor en-route. The next day, visiting the same building, he puts a glove on one hand to locate the tenth floor button, then with the other hand he pushes the button.

so, pushing or touching buttons while you have gloves on stops them working does it? well if it was cold I'd assume the lift was not working and get out. Can anyone explain this one to me?

There are elevators with heat sensitive buttons that do not work when pressed, but only from the heat of your fingers. I have been in such an elevator with a friend with gloves on, and she asked me to press the button, rather than taking hers off.

Well does he wear gloves or not? Apparently he does from the first day. Then why does he have to put one on the second day? Wouldn't he still take one off, but after he had identified the correct button. Good idea. Needs some work.
