Two 3's
Your mission is to come up with an equation that will equal twenty. The catch is that you can only use two 3's (example: 3+3=6). You can use any function you want but the total must be 20.
Answer
The first three, is 3(factorial). That means 3x2x1. That equals 6. Divide that by .3, and you have your answer.Hide Answer Show Answer

clever, very clever
I do my best.
The problem BEGS for a factorial. If you work with 20 and 3, you see 20x3=60 and the link to 6x10 should be clear at that point - if you are not familiar with factorials, then you'll never get this.
the symbol for factorial is !
Excuse me, I'm no math whiz and don't even know the definition of factoral, but, ......3x3=9, 9-3=6, 6/.3=20.................TADAA!
You can get very close by
tanh(3)= 0,995054753
exp(3)= 20,08553692
So exp(3) * tanh(3)=19,986209.

I suppose this doesn't count because of using the two for squaring, but I had:
(3!)! / 3!^2 = 720/36 = 20
(3!)! / 3!^2 = 720/36 = 20
uhmm... i guess i didn't realize .3 counted as 3, but idk why.
i cheated and said log(base3)3^20=20.
