or put a line through the equal sign to make "not equal to"
more than one solution, but the idea is great...
Yeah, my answer was the not equal thing too.
The first thing I thought of was the not equal solution...but I didn't really think that was a trick. So I spent ages thinking about it and I finnally got it. Good teaser!
that's a mistake. it should be 4:40
Hi Dina, I guess you are somewhat younger than I am. In schools it is taught to use a colon ( but a full stop (.) has always been equally acceptable. The reason I have put the marks in brackets is that I know they are called by alternate names in some places. It causes some confusion for us Brits on rebus but just because soemthing is different it does not always mean it is wrong. One reason I like Braingle is because it covers most of the globe and gives us a chance to be educated in each others differences. have you seen the message board! Hope you continue to enjoy Braingle and dont be put off by the low ratings on your teasers. Practice will improve them so keep on posting:-)
Nuts I almost had it
HAHA, I like these types of teasers in which when you see the answer you knew it was something you were thinking but couldnt say it!
I wouldnt have got that! Nice teaser
Same answer as gizzer
this is really good!!!!!! happy to have come across it!!
WTG on your teaser and your comment. I personally was thinking I might have gotten it if you hadn't put in any punctuation, but if you'd put the colon in, where's the trick? People get so nitpicky over stuff here. It was a great teaser!
it was pretty good.
There's another answer. If you put a line through the equals sign it becomes a 'does not equal' sign.
Fun! Thanks for the cool teaser.
You put a line through the equal sign! Yeah!
I would also create a "does not equal" sign. Much easier considering that the "time" uses a period not a colon.
i agree to the first comment, u can add a line through the equal sign to make it "not equal to", but u have the correct idea.
Excellent - added as a "favorite". It is generally agreed that the "not equal" approach is not a valid solution to this class of problem. If that is understood (maybe it could have been stated), the given answer is iron-clad. I have often seen time expressed with a period, although of course it's not as common as the colon. Great entry!
I thought add a line on the equal mark and make it a sign of inequality
Yup I came up with the "not equal" one too ;)
I agree with Gizzer. I never think of the trick in a Trick teaser as having to do with time or odds.
