Shopping is Good for You
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.
One day, a man spent so long reading the morning paper that he didn't have time to go shopping before his flying lesson. During his flying lesson, he listened to his instructor the whole time, until it was time to land. Then, he completely ignored his instructor and crashed the plane into the ground, killing them both. If he had gone shopping like he had planned, the plane wouldn't have crashed. Why?

He was going to go shopping for a battery for his hearing aid. He ignored the instructor because he couldn't hear him.

| Are you even allowed to fly planes if you have hearing aids?
My guess: Probably not. What if you were flying a commerical airplane and the cockpit was talking to you and you couldn't hear them because you are practically deaf? |

| So, if the person was good enough to fly the whole time without hearing his instructor, then why couldn't he land? And he is not very considerate if he flies without being able to hear anything. But it was pretty fun to think of the one item that would save his life. |
