In the States we refer to 1000 kg as a "metric ton" and 2000 lbs (about 200 lbs less) as a "ton". So my question is, do you have a different name for a 2000 pound "ton"?
No. It just goes miligram, gram, kilogram, tonne, 2 tonne, 3 tonne. Is that what you meant?
What I meant was that in the US, a "ton" denotes a weight of 2000 pounds, and a "metric ton" denotes a weight of 1000 kilograms, or 2200 pounds. I was just asking if you had a special name for a weight of 2000 pounds, like maybe an "English ton" or something. If you don't use pounds at all, then I guess that there would be no reason for you to have a name for it. I was just curious.
The spelling in Glennyboy's teaser was "tonne" which denotes a "metric ton" ie. 1000 kg. If spelt ton we (Aussies) would suppose imperial ton = 2000 lb.
