Over Fifty In My Kingdom
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.
There are over fifty members in my family;
Yet none quarrel. We all live merrily.
Four leaders have we, all with a bride;
Each has a son who has great pride.
We also have servants who make funny gestures;
But they are hardly used, as they often pester.
The peasants are at the bottom of the line;
Although they outnumber us, they haven't a right mind.
What are we?

| Where do you get 54 cards in a standard deck? Surely a standard deck is 4 suits (Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, Clubs) with Ace through to King in each suit (A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K) giving 13 cards in each suit.
4 x 13 is 52. What are the other 2 cards?

It may be a regional thing, but the "Jesters" referred to in the explanation are known as Jokers to most Americans. 52 cards + 2 jokers = 54. Most people don't use Jokers, so they are "hardly used." |

| this was a poor teaser. the jacks are not the sons of the king and queen. jacks are actually the servants!!!
the jacks used to be called knaves (who are servants) but it was changed, due to confusion between the kings and knaves (K and Kn)
