Mr. Money Bags
Mystery teasers are little stories where you need to figure out what happened based on the given clues.
Thomas P. Stanwick, logician and amateur sleuth had come to Mr. Pennyroll's house. Mr. Pennyroll was explaining how he had been kidnapped by bank robbers when he arrived to open up the bank where he was the assistant manager.
"They forced me to open up the safe and give them the money. Then they made me drive towards my home from the bank. They intended on getting my wife's jewelry too," explained Mr. Pennyroll.
"Tell me how you were able to escape, Mr. Pennyroll," said Mr. Stanwick.
"We were driving towards my house from the bank. One of the kidnappers had dumped the money out of the bank bag into a paper sack. Then he threw the bank bag out of the window. Two blocks later we stopped for a red light. He was looking down at the money, and I saw my chance. I opened my door, jumped out of the car, and ran. I ran up to the nearest house, and they let me in. Luckily, the kidnappers did not follow me. They just drove off."
"Let's follow your route back to the bank and see if we can find any clues," said Mr. Stanwick.
They left the house in Mr. Stanwick's car. Soon Pennyroll shouted, "There it is! There's the money bag!" They stopped and picked up the empty bank bag and continued on towards the bank. In a few minutes they came to a light. "This is where I escaped," said Pennyroll.
After getting back to the bank, Mr. Stanwick said, "I have a problem with your story."
What did he notice?

Answer
Heading back to the bank, they should not have reached the money bag before they reached the corner where Mr. Pennyroll jumped out of the car as he supposedly did that after they tossed the bag out. If this were true, they would have passed the corner first and then the money bag on the way back to the bank. He must have made up the story about the kidnappers and is really involved in the stolen money.

| Well, I guess I'm the dunce in the group, I didn't get it at all!!
I thought it had something to do with the lack of that invisible ink stuff that money is treated with for just such circumstances....
Please, help me out of this box that I just can't seem to think outside of!!!!!! |

| I guess i wasn't concentrating hard enough. The teaser was adequately difficult. I was thinking along other lines. NOt the escape route, but I did know our unlucky banker was involved. Jumping from the car without getting shot. I watch too many gory movies. |

| I got this right away, but it was enjoyable, short but enjoyable. But, you can't be SURE that this means the banker was involved! Maybe he just got confused because of the stress of it all, but it would make one a little suspicious! Good job. |
