Brain Teasers
Hindsight
Two friends sat talking, when one said to the other:
"I love clear nights - they allow me to literally look at things past."
His friend, highly confused by this statement but feeling embarrassed, merely grunted his agreement. However, that night when he got home, he decided to research what his friend might have meant.
What did he find?

Look at the stars.Answer
Even the nearest star, Proxima Centauri, is a long distance from earth. Proxima Centauri lays 4.2 lightyears away from earth. This means that if you look up and see Proxima Centauri, the light you are actually seeing was emitted from the star over four years earlier, and therefore in a sense you are looking into the past, as you are seeing a past image of the star.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

well actually this happens with ALL objects that are viewed. something you see that is about one foot away (like the computer monitor or device you are looking at) is about a billionth of a second delayed. not much, but still something.
omg... first this was getting me like, what the heck? then when i looked at the answer i'm like, oh yeahhh... i remember learning that recently. i obviously don't remember things too well when needed, lol
Easy, but a cool thought! Thanx.
Awesome Snoopy! Love this one.. one my favourites.
The nearest star to the earth is the Sun.
wow...that was kinda random, but not really...
Oh, sorry..I meant that the Sun was the closest star to the Earth, not Proxima Centauri.
Picky, picky, picky, these people, Oy! Well I don't remember learning that in school, so it threw me. So it is true....you do learn something new everyday. I love your teasers.
This is kind of a know-it-or-you-don't teaser.
And if you don't know it, you learn something new.
