To tell you the truth... the answer to your riddle is wrong ... A. ideally ... it would be 50... and B. since you are saying BC. and AD. which is based on the christian belif system of christ's birth no one really knows when 0 occured.. and jesus was more likely born in 3 or 4 bc.. so there for.. the answer is actually more likly to be 46 or 47
Feb 12, 2005

thats exactly what i was going to say.
Sep 24, 2005

if your dead how are you writing a teaser...
Nov 25, 2005

The question is spot-on, because if you're right, then both START year and END year are 4 years out, and IT WORKS!
Dec 14, 2005

actually, there would be 51 years if there was a year zero, so your answer is wrong.
Jan 27, 2006

that was cool thanks for the excellent teaser
Mar 04, 2006

The answer is absolutely correct because before christ changes into in the year of our lord in two consecutive years. Think about it before the lord>1 b.c. then when he was born the first year of in the days of our lord or 1 a.d.

Just tryin" to help ya out mr. G cuz of all of the incorrect negative feedback
Mar 13, 2006

Yeah....too much negativity because people can't get the right answers....this teaser is on point and absolutely correct...quite whining cause you can't get it.
Apr 21, 2006

there wasnt a zero? lol like i knew. cause when you think of it back then they probably hardly counted time or cared and i don't think they used the bc's and ad's because back then you couldnt just brodcast that christ was born so o well i have no idea what im saying your teaser is right though i guess
May 22, 2006

k...wait a minute... b.c. is before christ... and a.d. is after death... if jesus lived to be 34 years old... wouldn't that make this person on this teaser be like 84? because u add 25 + 34 + another 25 and that would equal 84?

am i right in saying that?
May 24, 2006

No! NO! a.d. stands for in the days of our lord, therefore when christ was born a.d. started. Otherwise the 33 years which he lived for would be missing because his life isn't included in Before Christ or After Death, you see?
Jun 02, 2006

ok, ok take it easy... jeesh...!

it was a question...
Sep 06, 2006

I always thought the year of our lord was year zero and 1 ad after. Regardless, the teaser obviously allowed some debate and opinion and it get's some of it's value just by sparking the thoughts given above. No matter if you agree or not it gives you something to think about and I applaud those who expressed themselves politely here.
Sep 22, 2006

sorry didn't mean to come off as mean or angry it is just a pet peeve of mine. It is fact though not an opinion
Nov 07, 2006

There was a extra credit question just like that on my math test!
Jan 20, 2007

I like to call it "A.C." because it makes more sense to say "After Christ" and because I never got what the D in A.D. stood for.. =/

The teaser seems correct enough to me. Kudos to the person who made it!
Feb 06, 2007

loved it!

Although Jesus was born about 4 B.C. (before Christ) due to a miscalculation in the current calendar, there were not 4 missing years. It just means that Jesus was 12 years old in 8 A.D. (Anno Domini which is latin for "Year of our Lord" often now referred to by non christians as C.E. Common Era). From 1 aug 25 BC to 1 AUG 24 BC is 1 year so we see the pattern is to subtract one date from the other. Thus from 1 aug 25 BC to 1 AUG 1 BC is 24 years. After 1 more year it would be 1 AD and 25 years have now elapsed. Now counting from 1 aug 1 AD to 1 aug 25 AD there are 24 years as before. Total elapsed time is 49 years. The answer to the teaser is correct as given!
Mar 12, 2007

Sorry - correction Jesus was born in about 5 BC meaning a disparity of 4 years between the age of Jesus and the year AD by the same principal as the teaser suggests so Jesus was 12 in 8 AD.
