Oh I thought it was elementary cuz that was the only one with more than two syllables. But this is much better.
Em-Pi-Re
3 syllables too.
3 syllables too.
I got it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
em-pire, 2 syllables. Duh
Most people pronounce it Em-Pi-Re.

I figured it out another way..every word has at least two vowels except the last one..!
Different vowels, you mean.
EggshEll.

A very good concept, but I agree about the syllables - it spoiled for me, because I thought I had the (rather trivial) answer without going on to really think! Could I suggest you ask the Editor to allow a change - "Empirical" perhaps. [BTW the fact that people mispronounce 'empire' as 'empayah' and 'power' as 'pow-wah' does not make it correct!!]
A fun teaser nonetheless - thanks again!
A fun teaser nonetheless - thanks again!
...now I've looked up "power" in an online syllable dictionary and it says 2 syllables ... maybe mispronouncing long enough DOES make it right!
There is a second viable solution - elementary is an adjective and the others are all nouns. Avoid this problem by replacing ELEMENTARY with ELECTRICITY.
Great teaser
