Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.
How many numbers are there on a standard die?
None, only dots.

Actually, I have a large number of dice with numbers instead of dots on them. In role-playing games, it is common to have dice of all shapes and sizes, ranging from 4 to 20 sides, every single one of them with a different number on each side instead of a bunch of dots.

By the way, the real answer should certainly be "None", but for a different reason--there is no such thing as a dice. There is a die, or many dice--a bit like a penny and several pence.

I wonder if missy was thinking this that peterbradfor mentioned? Interestingly, even if she wasn't, peter's comment actually does reveal the true key to the riddle.

It says STANDARD DIE (not dice, RPG die), as in 6 sided, no digits.
However a standard die doesn't have dots, but it does have 21 pips.
