Answer
An earthquake. When a section of rock along a fault line breaks, an earthquake is triggered. Scientists learn from earthquakes how to predict them.
Faults (cracks) in the Earth's surface cause earthquakes. Earthquakes cause movement along faults and moved the tectonic plates to their current locations.
Earthquakes can be very dangerous and cause many deaths. On the Mercalli scale of measuring earthquakes, an earthquake measured 12 will create noticeable bends and waves in the earth's surface.
