Dr. Aldear was a U.S. history professor who loved creating puzzles for his friends and family to solve. When the Dr. died his will stated that he had acquired a number of historical U.S. relics worth a substantial amount of money. These relics he kept locked away in a deposit box at the bank and in order for his family to retrieve the treasures they would have to solve one of his puzzles. The answer to the puzzle was the combination to the box.
The Puzzle:
1. There are no letters in the combination, only numbers.
2. There are seven digits in the combination.
3. Each of the U.S. states relate to a number in the combination.
4. The numbers in the combination range from 1-9 there are no zeros and the numbers in the combination are in the same order in which the states below are written.
1. Maryland
2. Connecticut
3. New Jersey
4. New Hampshire
5. Delaware
6. New Jersey
7. Delaware

The numbers in the combination correspond to the order in which each state received statehood.
Maryland was the 7th Connecticut was 5th New Jersey was 3rd etc.
