Mar 09, 2006
| Bowsprit was the first word that came to my mind also - had to look at the answer to see "newspaper". Wonder what that says? |

| Cute-cute-cute! I went 'arrghh! when I read the answer. MORE! |
shawneeo
Mar 09, 2006
| That was good, although I would have liked a few like that together. I didn't get it, but didn't try because aside from searching with computer how do you find something like that? And newspaper is waaaaaaaay more common than bowsprit or whatever the word is because I saw a few different spellings above. Thanks! |

| This was a great teaser! I didn't get it and had to look up the answer, and when I saw what it was... newspaper... I thought, "Well, DUH!!" And BTW... what in the world is a "bowsprint" or "bowsprit?" I've never in my life heard that word, and I've been around the block a few times... |
Araldite
Mar 09, 2006
| How about newsprint? It's more common than bowspirit. |
pat56
Mar 09, 2006
| Good job, even though I didn't get it I thought that I would still add my opinion.I think that people on here shouldn't say anything if they can't say something nice about people's teasers.I haven't seen one yet that someone hasn't said something negative.I think you done good so keep up the good work. |

| Congrats on getting teaser of the day! This one either comes to mind quickly or can be quite elusive if the brain doesn't take us in the right direction. We also saw some good alternative answers. Thanks for the tease!
(Side note: let's not use the comment area to chat amongst ourselves .. we have a great forum area and chat for that!)
Hope to see more of your teasers! |

Mar 09, 2006
| The hint "Read" actually confirmed my initial suspicion of the answer being "newspeak" - i.e. read 1984!
I did end concluding newspaper was probably the answer intended however. |

| BTW... the reason I didn't submit my "teaser" above was because I haven't accumulated enough "points" to submit teasers yet. I'm not one of those "paying" customers, and I need at least 250 points to submit one. I'm glad y'all enjoyed it though, and I appreciate the nice comments!! |

P.S. I still don't know what a bowsprit is.

| Oh my gosh I clicked on the hint and it said "read" but I thought that I clicked on the answer and I was like what the heck? Read does not have any of those letteres. I was so confused. But it's okay now. Phew. I'm not insane. |

| It wasn't that easy for me. I had to look at the hint and then I got it. Thanks! |
precious1026
Mar 11, 2009
| I looked at the Hint and still could not figure "Newspaper." I guess Newspaper is a common word, perhaps not a English Common Word. Something is amiss with this Teaser, even though I liked this teaser and it was Corrected on one or more points of accuracy. |
perrygf
Mar 17, 2009
| Great puzzle! I got it after the hint. Do more! |
wordmama
Mar 10, 2012
| Couldn't think of the common word until I read the hint. I thought of bowsprit first, and then newspeak, neither falling under the designation 'common', but the hint gave it to me, which doesn't bother me. Liked it. |

Mar 10, 2012
| nice. Had to use clue to get.. was workin' bowsprit til then |
eamon
Mar 10, 2012
| A sloppy old puzzler isn't it? I also thought of bowsprit first (we're not all reading at an elementary level) then newspeak which brought me to newspaper and so forth. It would be nice if the question was tweaked by giving "a 9-letter word" or whatever as part of the clue to rule out the other dozen and a half possible answers.
Aside from fun, the point of playing word puzzle games is to improve our minds surely, not to falsely praise ourselves over small mistakes. |
