What Doesn't Belong?
These brain teasers rely on your ability to recognize groups of common attributes. For each of these puzzles you'll need to figure out why the words or letters are grouped as they are. Sometimes you will be asked to pick the odd-one-out or to place a new word into the correct group.
Which one of the following does not belong with the others?
Binoculars, eyeglasses, goggles, handlebars, jeans, pliers, scissors, shoes, tweezers
Answer
The word "shoes" is the only "pair" that actually has 2 separate pieces.

| Good teaser.
Aha, zona..I see you also found another answer! The word tweezers is also different from the rest as it is the only word that uses the same vowel while the other words use more than one vowel in each word. Right, zona?
Still, this was a good teaser that I enjoyed solving! |

I kept trying to get a teaser submitted and I'm glad I finally got one in. I'm still thinking of more and hope to come up with one soon! |

| My thought was that jeans didn't belong, because, unlike everything else, they're made of cloth or denim, which makes them different, but shoes are also different because they're made with leather! ...so there's more than one correct answer, but for different reasons! |

| SourDough actually thought "Handlebars", because the rest are used to go hiking with, hence my "pliers" are in my "Leatherman".
But your answer is much better than $ourDough's, by golly!
Three thumbs up!

| tweezers is also the only word in the list that can be typed exclusively by the left hand (using the proper hand positions and whatnot); thus, it does not fit because it does not use the right hand.
I like your answer better, but that's what I came up with. |

| Good one. "jeans" is the only one that doesn't end in "es" or "rs"...
Yours is better though. |

| Several times in the recent past there were a lot of complaints about using a list B of words which would help eliminate all the extra possiblities. (For example, another word beginning with a vowel could have been on that list and then everyone would know that eyeglasses was not the correct answer. ) In view of all the alternate answers I can see that there was definitely a need for that List B. Unless, of course, no one minds all the additional answers which also stimulates thinking and makes for interesting comments. |

| Well, I guessed handlebars because I have never heard the phrase "a pair of handlebars". I have always heard and used the word handlebar (singular form). Once again, I learn something new everyday! |

| I said scissors as they are the only ones designed to be specifically right or left handed. Everything else is interchangeable/symmetric. |

| Handlebars makes more sense because I too have never heard the phrase "pair of handlebars".
Handlebars are referenced like this...
"Grab the handlebars." |

| Handlebars are usually not referenced as a pair of such and such like the others in the list. We just say handlebars never a pair of handlebars. |

| never heard of a pair of handlebars...unless there were two of them together for some reason. like railroad tracks. |
