Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
There are two groups of four-letter words used in the sentences below. The first missing words of each sentence are anagrams of each other, and the second missing words are also anagrams of each other. Can you find them ?

2. That's a ______ excuse, you cannot get away without giving us the _____ of the person who helped you in this theft.
3. Before each ______, it is customary to say Grace and end with _______.

| While I did get all the answers, I have only one 'nitpick'.
The last sentence ends with "...it is customary to say ____, indicating that it's looking for one word. Standing alone, I guessed "grace", however, that word didn't fit in with the letters of part-two of the other two sentences. I figured "Amen" *did* fit, however, the sentence (in my email box) did not say anything about "grace, followed by ____". If the original that came in my mailbox had had that last bit in it, then "AMEN" would have made perfect sense to me.
Other than that little pickiness, I did think it was very fun! |

| I ended up voting HARD because there was no way to vote impossible. The first blank was easy but the eay the sentences were structured the 2nd blank is impossiblthere is no way thet grace can be re-arranged to find words that would fit in the other sentences. |

| Thanks! I thought it was easy, because once you get the first one, which was pretty obvious, you know what the others have to be. I think the last one should have said "You say grace followed by____." But, the way I saw it, you DO say Amen before eating just as often as you say grace before eating, so technically, that way, it worked, but maybe a slightly diff. wording would clear that up. Thanks! |

| Lots of fun. It was hard enough to present a challenge, but eary enought to solve once on the right track. I, too, thought of "grace" at first, but then realized that it was not a four letter word. So once I came up with "lame" excuse, it was easy to think of the amen.

| A little too easy, in my opinion. I gotta say the instructions were a little confusing at first, so instead of trying to figure them out, I just went right to the teaser, and got the answers. Going back to the instructions after I figured out the right answer, I still wasn't sure if they made sense, so you might want to look at that. Otherwise, good job! | Thanks you guys for the helpful and constructive feedback. Well, someone went and changed the sentence to include Grace in the answer and happily forgot to change it in the teaser. I have submitted the correction so that it is consistent. There was no 'Grace' originally in my teaser!  I hope people are more careful about corrections they make in future. |
