The variety of collectibles drew Nora Shekrie to the small, tasteful shop in downtown Hobart. The front window showed signed photos and equipment from at least eight different sports, none of which was baseball. Cricket, football (both soccer and Aussie rules), swimming, and surfing were all represented. Intrigued, Nora pulled open the front door, with a hearty "G'day" to the shopkeeper.
"G'day, mate. From the States, are you?"
Nora blushed. "Sorry; some of us have to be. What gave me away so soon?"
"Yer accent. Pure tourist, not that there's anything wrong with that. You're in the right part of the world now. What's yer fancy today?"
"Just browsing. You don't have any baseball stuff in the front window; it's nice to see. Can't find that at home."
"I would think not. But for the perfect souvenir for an American, I think I have just the thing. How about an autographed photo of Madame Harding with her Olympic medals?"
"Tonya Harding?" The shopkeeper nodded. "You mean, with her world championship medals?"
He shook his head this time. "No, ma'am, with her three Olympic medals." He had a twinkle in his eye, a secret of some sort.
"Tonya Harding didn't win Olympic medals, not even the year of the Nancy Kerrigan, um, incident. What's the catch?"
"Oh, no catch at all. It's a true, honest photo, and she brought home a silver and two bronze, sure enough."
The delight in his eyes held Nora for several seconds, while she searched the garbage scow of her mind, the place where she stored disconnected trivia, for some interpretation of his words.
Finally, she gave up. "I'll bite. Show me the picture."
He reached under the counter and handed over the shot. Nora frowned at it, then looked more closely, and finally chuckled at the utter *lack* of fraud.
"You're right; it's the perfect souvenir. Autographed by Harding, all right, and with the Olympic medals she won. How much?"

Nora got the photo, her change, and a good story. What was in the photo?

It's true that figure skater Tonya Harding never won an Olympic medal, finishing 8th in her only appearance. The shopkeeper sold an autographed picture of Tanya Harding, star softball pitcher for Australia and one of the best ever to step on the mound. She won medals in 1996, 2000, and 2004. Although the first names are pronounced differently (rhyming with "can ya" vs "con ya"), they're occasionally confused out of context.
