Marmalade My Fine Sir?
Trivia
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.Trivia
Swaff and his older brother Abjar were once again talking to each other. This time, it was about their toast topping preferences. Abjar decided to play a little joke on Swaff.
He told him this story:
"When I was a young lad, back in the good ole year of 1902, my best friend, Geoff, and I would get into many crazy competitions. This one time, we decided to see who could get the bread to pop out of the toaster the farthest. I won with an amazing 19 inches."
Swaff was amazed. He never knew his brother was that cool.
Later on in life, Abjar revealed that this was a lie. How could Swaff have caught the lie?

Answer
Since Charles Strite invented the modern pop-up toaster in 1919, there was no way that Abjar and Geoff could have had a competition 17 years prior to its invention. Back then, the toasters were completely manual. You had to take the bread out, and flip it around to toast both sides. If Swaff would have caught this simple fact, he would have not had to go through such embarrassment.Hide Answer Show Answer

Very nice teaser. Enjoyable and informative as well. I thought it was fun.
that was great, and very imformative, liked it!!

Fun stuff Swaff! The answer was pretty easy to guess.... but the learning the details is always fun!!.
that one was hard for me I never thaught id ever know that much about the common toaster
I figured it out but that was a good one.
Me too Chop. I guessed that the pop toaster hadn't yet been invented, but I didn't know when it was.
Great teaser LB swaff!
Cool Swaff! I got it right. *feels all smart* Keep them coming! They're so cool! ~*more smileys*~
thx for history lesson
Yet another bread/toast teaser!
Cool one, so to speak, but can tell why buttered toast usually falls butter side down.
I suspected something like that.
lol I knew it, I feel special, I normally dont get any, but I got this one, keep the good on's coming lol
This one was too easy for me, and it just made me feel old. I can remember the litttlle doors you had to open and flip the toast around. Did make you think tho cause it was all enclusive in the story. I do enjoy the narrative teasers. But I always say you're only as old as you allow yourself to be and smiling keeps you young so thanks for the quick trip to the spa. Keep 'em comin'
Jesus that was incredibly easy.
If he and his bro were 10 or 11 in 02 they would have been114 or 115 years old wow an easy one thanks ,
That was a fun one! I guessed it but didn't think it was toooooooo easy, just right. If he had said, back at the turn of the last century or something like that maybe it'd been even harder, but that wouldn't have been clear enuf. Thanks!
I actually got this one.
Alternate answer
assume countertop 36 inches high
single slice toater 4inch thick
chair seat 17inches high
knock toaster off counter onto chair
toast pops ((((((((( OUT )))))))
not up

cute, but way too easy if I got it right away!

yes this was easy but a lot of fun just the same good job
Wow, I never knew that. cool...
Finally I got one right. Must be it was too eacy.
i knew the answer right away but i thought the toaster was invented just a little bit later . i swear they went over this on jeopardy just the other day !
Too easy for adults, appropriate difficulty for kids.
Couldn't they have the competition by manually pull the popper thing really fast?
I'm afraid that one was too easy.
nice teaser, i guessed it...
Uh HUH! I got it, I GOT IT!!!
I suppose it helped that a relative of ours formed the first company to manufacture Strite's toaster. The first Toastmaster wasn't actually sold until years later - in the 1920's - and we actually have one of them!

Obviously a lie -- *toast* pops out of a toaster, not bread.

Haha! I now consider myself in "the know"! I have learned something today, and I'm sure it will be invaluable *note sarcasm* in my life from now on! Jk, very good. Theme makes it interesting!
