Hindsight
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.
Two friends sat talking, when one said to the other:
"I love clear nights - they allow me to literally look at things past."
His friend, highly confused by this statement but feeling embarrassed, merely grunted his agreement. However, that night when he got home, he decided to research what his friend might have meant.
What did he find?
HintLook at the stars.

Answer
Even the nearest star, Proxima Centauri, is a long distance from earth. Proxima Centauri lays 4.2 lightyears away from earth. This means that if you look up and see Proxima Centauri, the light you are actually seeing was emitted from the star over four years earlier, and therefore in a sense you are looking into the past, as you are seeing a past image of the star.

| well actually this happens with ALL objects that are viewed. something you see that is about one foot away (like the computer monitor or device you are looking at) is about a billionth of a second delayed. not much, but still something. |

| This is kind of a know-it-or-you-don't teaser.
And if you don't know it, you learn something new. |
