1,5,2,6,3,8,4,9.....
Series teasers are where you try to complete the sequence of a series of letters, numbers or objects.
1,5,2,6,3,8,4,9.....
What are the next four numbers in this sequence?
Answer
5,12,6,13
notice interspersing sets - 1--2--3--4.. 5--6--(increase by one) and then 5--6--8--9--..12--13 (increase by one, then by two, then by one, then by three, then by one...)

| Can someone explain this one? I got the 5,6 part but the 12 and 13 I could only get by some obscure logic. |

| The first of each pair is an acsending pattern:
1(+1=)2 (+1=)3 (+1=)4 (+1=)5(+1=)6 (+1=)7 (+1=)8.....+1..etc.
The next number in each pair increases in a pattern of +1,+2, +1, +3, +1, +4 etc...
5(+1=)6 (+2=)8 (+1=)9 (+3=)12 (+1=)13 (+4=)17 (+1=)18..... +5+1+6+1+7..etc.
So you end up with these pairs
1,5.. 2,6.. 3,8.. 4,9.. 5,12.. 6,13.. 7,17.. 8,18.. 9,23.. 10,24.. 11,30..
Oddly.. if that's how it's supposed to work my answer had a little bit more reasoning to it that than that answer but that's how I understand the answer given.
I hope I understood the explanation correctly and that made it a little clearer. |

| Thank you Atropus! Although I would have to say that nothing points to that particular pattern here...
Given was 5, 6(+1), 8(+2), 9(+1)...
Why would you not come to the conclusion that the pattern continues ...9(+1), 11(+2), 12(+1), 14(+2), etc.?
Other than that, I enjoyed this one! |

| I agree with tonjawithaj - you can't know that the pattern is 1 - 2 - 1 - 3 - 1 .... with just the information given. |

| It was a good teaser, but I agree- from the part of the pattern that you gave, you don't come up with your answer. It's impossible to come up with your answer from the information given- although it makes sense after.
You should have gone a little farther with the pattern. |

| I have to agree. Not enough information to come up with the second half of the pattern. |

| I also agree with the previous. One could also come to the conclusion that the second pattern was, 5,6, skip one, 8,9, skip one, thus getting 11,12. But a nice try! |
