Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
Four legs have I, a sturdy fellow
A fuzzy back that isn't yellow
But (often) green or (rarely) red
A den is where I make my bed
My keepers feed me coloured balls
With sticks they store on my den walls
Sometimes I store them in my pouch
Sometimes deep in my belly; ouch!
That's when you'll see me acting strange
Instead of balls, I'll eat your change
And that's my cue to feed again
Chalk it up to hunger, friend!

Hint
Take two words in the last two lines out of their context for a big hint.Answer
A billiard (pool) table. They have four sturdy legs and a green, fuzzy playing surface (snooker tables are sometimes red). Privately owned tables are often kept in the den (family room), and the cues are usually stored in a wall rack. Private tables simply have pouches beneath the pockets to catch the balls; coin-operated tables store the balls inside the table. To play again, you need to insert more coins.
Note the use of "cue" and "chalk"; two essential billiard elements!

Easy teaser, but very cute. Keep 'em coming!
If this is your first teaser, then I will say it is a very entertaining and descriptive teaser. It is on the too quickly solved side. And you may want to delete this comment.
Loved it! So cute!
Where I live in Oregon, USA- a den is an office so I found myself thinking of office equipment first. The last line mentioning chalk gave it to me without the clue.

Like this one. Good job!
Thanks for the comments!
I would like an editor to go in and press [return] after "Ouch!" and before "That..." It didn't wrap properly when I submitted it.
You are all too smart! I tried it out in various incarnations on all my office mates and no one could get it...that's why it ended up being so easy--I kept adding lines!
Thanks again! N.

its good, but the hint completely gives it away
It is a tad easy - I had it by the fifth line, didn't even need to finish it :-\
But on the plus side, I like the way it's written, and if you just keep yourself from the obvious sides, you may just get fun and hard riddles (or would you...? *overdone dramatic music*)

Nikita, for my part, I'm always grateful for one of the easier teasers -- one I can guess the right answer to.
IF YOUR OFFICE MATES HAD DIFFICULTY WITH THIS TEASER, THEN, I DON'T WHO TO FEEL SORRIER FOR, YOU OR THEM ( )
A nice teaser, not too hard and not too easy for many who come here to Braingle, except a course the ONE, but pay it no mind just pity it.
Anyone else remembers who used the pool table as a big dinning table with "passing sticks."

Great metaphor
This was easy and I didn't even look at the hint. Fun, but easy.
My hat is off to you Nakita, for submitting a riddle (one of the harder categories for me)and being accepted. That it was on the easy side for me only means you made me feel extra bright on this Sunday morning. Thanks
i didnt get it...and there is even a pool table sitting right behind me!
nice!
I took a random guess, and the rest of the poem only confirmed it.
Q: "What green, fuzzy, has four legs, and would kill you if it fell on you from a tree?"
A: (Take a wild guess....)

I got it!!!
Cute, but very easy!
Don't play attention to the first comment on my part. I can make a fool of myself, @ times. You keep on making teasers... I am not an editor.
Woo-Hoo... I got it I like the satisfaction of solving something and I thought it was just right. THX.
I enjoyed this one very much. I'm not that good at riddles and I don't play pool, but I was able to get it even without the hint. I checked the hint before I checked my answer and I hadn't even noticed those clues. Good job on the poetry!
not very good at riddles but I got this one. thanks for the fun & good rhyming
great rhyming and really clever with your choice of words
good one
good one
Oh, it's so cute! I needed the hint to get it, but I still love it!
Easy but fun. Perhaps because I spent most of my day working on my new billiard room! Should be ready soon.
IMURRAY- Do you realize that most of us feel sorry for you.
AND WHY DO YOU SHOUT AT US!
Does it make you feel better?

nice one....i actually learned somethin bout pool....
SMART AND CREATIVE
Fuzzy Green Monster indeed. Nice job a little easy for me but I enjoyed it. More please.
I loved this riddle...
...partly because it's one of the few I actually have been able to solve -- I have no problem with riddles that are actually easy!
...partly because it's just so gosh darn cuuute!!!
...partly because I loooovve pool.

love the way you wrote it, great job
Good one! I was thinking it was a Christmas tree or a gumball machine
I notice this Teaser was corrected, however, this Teaser was fun, funny and fantastically, fantastic. A clue ball. My mind took me around the Insect world, if you can believe that, for an answer. Well, a Braingle's Member Does It Again...
IF YOU EVER SHOT A GAME OF POOL AND DIDN'T GET THIS IN 10 SECONDS. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!
Well-written and fun!
Nice1!!!
Thanks for the new comments, peeps! I'm humbled that one of my teasers was the daily teaser.
He-he! I so got it!
My math teacher showed our class this riddle, and one person got it: Me!
Did not need the hint as the last few lines gave it away. Very good one though. If you know nothing about pool, then you may not get it. A lot of these teasers do that. Cater to the few that know about something. The rest are left out.
And I don't play pool. Won't tell what I cam up with. Too silly.
fun and easy
read 1st 3 lines and thought of a frog but then read next 3 and thought of a pool table which made more sense.
for some reason, I got a sofa & wouldn't let go of that concept- do wish I'd allowed myself to think, then I'd have had the pleasure of getting this- loved the descriptive writing! thank you-
very easy, the colored balls gave it away.
"cue" clinched it for me- clever prose
Really EZ! Perfect for early a.m.
a bit too easy
I started off thinking a practice putting green, but quickly realized this described a pool table. The hint was cute even though I didn't need it
Well written, easy, fun teaser, but 2 many clues, thanks!
I also was thinking putting green at first, but got it with the hint. Enjoyed the teaser.
Easy teasy. I liked the use of "cue" and "chalk", not as direct clues, but just mixed in. Very nicely done.
Fun and entertaining teaser. This time I got it very quickly without the hint.
