AnswerA blue tongue lizard! There are six different types of blue tongue lizards. Its main feature, is of course, its blue tongue. When it is startled, it will open its mouth to try and scare predators away. It is a member of the skink family, and some of its predators include cats, dogs, kookaburras and snakes. It is found mainly in Australia, but it is also found in Indonesia and New Guinea. Blue tongue lizards can grow up to 60cm long. Most types are omnivorous. In one Aboriginal legend, a man was sitting around a campfire when he spotted the lizard. He thought to himself, "If that lizard is still around in three days, I will do something terrible. The spirits will curse me for what I am about to do." Three days later, the lizard was still there so he threw a bit of blue ochre at the lizard just as it was poking its tongue out. The lizard has had a blue tongue ever since. Hide What Next?
