Fiction Prediction

Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.

"It'll be fun!" said my friend Hannah. She was trying to persuade me into paying a website to tell us who we were in our past lives. I'd rather read my book of mysteries, but she finally dragged me to the computer.

I answered the questions honestly, and the answer soon popped up on the screen. It was followed by a space to enter a credit card number, and an ad asking for "generous donations."

As I read its reasoning behind me being the reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes, Hannah tried to convince me of the site's trustworthiness. "You are always solving mysteries, it must be right!"

"Hannah, you shouldn't be so quick to trust! This place is scamming you."

How did I know?

Answer

I couldn't be Sherlock Holmes reincarnated, for Sherlock never lived nor died. He's a fictional character created by Arthur Conan Doyle.
