Brain Teasers
Step By Step
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
A man is in downtown Walkville and is going to go home in his car. The man is 60 feet away from his car, yet he took only 13 steps and got in the car and drove away. How is this possible if he didn't leap or get assistance from anyone?
Hint
It has nothing to do with the size of the steps.Answer
The man had parked in a multi-story parking garage. He was on the bottom floor, rode the elevator up to the 6th floor, and walked to his car and got in.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

So going up 6 floors in an elevator is not getting assistance? I walk the stairs!
I have to agree with Jimbo. Although he didn't get assistance from "anyone", he did get assistance from "something", but "someone" built the elevator, so indirectly, he did get assistance from "someone", which is the same as "anyone"...does that make sense?
Anyways, the teaser was pretty good.

I can't believe I got that!
Oh, so he wasn't rollerskating down a hill then
I thought he went up a flight of stairs thirteen steps long.
1- maybe he was riding a bike or an animal to it and got off 13 steps early
2- maybe he was doing cartwheels, which make strides much longer, if there considered strides at all.
3- maybe he didnt park his car correctly and it started rolling toward him, so he jsut got in.
4- maybe he was on ice and he slipped most of the way.
...and i can think of ALOT more
too many possibilities, sry

omg... i just realized. an elevator is considered a car
thought the same thing as swithie
Ooo that was really clever! Loved it!
A person who was running could easily cover 60 feet in 13 steps; that's only 4.6 feet per step.
