Brain Teasers
Poor George
George is dead. He was found face down in the street, squashed nearly flat. He must have been there some time as he was cool to the touch. In addition, when he was found, there was a bird perched on the back of his head.
Who is George?
Who is George?
Hint
I cannot tell a lie...the person who discovered George was happy to find him.Answer
The George in question is George Washington, specifically the picture of Washington on the quarter. He was, in fact, dead when he was found. As he is on a coin, he would be nearly flat, and cool to the touch. Finally, when you turn the quarter over, on the "back of the head" you will find a perching eagle.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

Got it! (after the hint)
I loved it!
I was thinking of George Harrison...
i couldn't guess the answer but its awesome anyway.
nice one!!
Liked it, kind of easy though
OK quiz but it might make more sense under 'situation'... I doubt many people would guess this one right off without a few questions...
i love brain teasers they r soooo...
FUN!!
FUN!!
that was fun and cool
THIS ONE GOES INTO MY FAVES,GREAT ONE KEEP EM COMING
i did not get it. i thought it was some squashed raccoon or something like that!
yeah, i was thinking roadkill too, with a buzzard on it, until they said in the hint that someone was happy to find him
the hint helped me figure it out..... but i like it
Doesn't make sense. The question states clearly "He" was found face down in the street. Yet the answer states it was not infact George who was in the street, only a pictoral representation of him.
Hi i got this write as a read the hint it awesome
It was hard, but the hint gave it away.
Cool teaser!
Cool teaser!
Nice teaser, being Australian I didn't get it - never seen your coins
very good - however beingfrom england and never been abrod i didnt atuallyget it since i havent seen one - sorry - but good teaser
got it, but i have to say that if george was lying in the street in texas in the summer, he wouldn't be cool to the touch
from australia got the idea...
thought a bird was standing on it
thought a bird was standing on it
Bravo!!
Interesting quiz?!
very nice teaser.
Am I the only one who thought of a dollar bill? Very clever teaser.
Got it quickly.Thought it could be Bush, but we're not that lucky.
I figured George was either a snake on his way to a gig, or a trombone player. LOL
Great teaser --made me smile!!!
the more i do these the worse i get
I didn't really agree with some of the wording in this teaser... sorry. I didn't like the wording "squashed" because a quarter is made that shape-- it isn't found squashed.
I also didn't like the implication that the quarter cooled as it sat there because a quarter doesn't lose heat. It would reflect the outside temperature.
Not trying to be a fuddy duddy...
I always appreciate the effort it takes to make a teaser!

Got it right off the bat with no questions!

Wow. I never would have guessed it. very tricky. very fun.
Horsemen4, that was too easy to guess, try a little harder to bring it!!
very clever! i enjoyed it
Very clever, and nice effort! I figured it out after the hint.
However, I do agree this is mis-categorized. Perhaps "Trick" would have been more accurate?

No, Bradon, the hint led me to a one-dollar bill also. Glad for the company!
I also thought it was a dollar bill either that or a poor flattened squirrel named George that a bird was eating for supper.
Fun! And I got it after a just a few quick moments of thinking.
NICE 1
poor me, I was thinking bigger. I thought it was the one dollar bill. LPts of fun great teaser.
sorry now I can't spell either I meant Lots of fun
I was so close I could taste it. Better luck for me next time. I really enjoyed trying to get it. Thanks for the post.

Clever! I knew it was either a quarter or a dollar bill. Belongs in Situation or Trick Category though.
I'd be hapy if I saw it too!!
This was the coolest
Thank you SPUTNIK. I worked very hard on it.
good one
very good!!! I didn't have a clue!! but then I'm english, so have no idea what your coins look like!
yay! I got it without looking at the hint!!
I didn't get it because I live in England, but it was really cool!
Really clever teaser!
Well, First I tought it was a fly, you know on the back of a cow the bird killed it, that's how cows groom themselves
I guessed that George was a worm, and that there was a bird happy to eat him.
That's great! It's like Ramen for the Noodle!
$ourDough thought it was a dollar! Sheeshkabibble!
Nevertheless, this one has to added to his favorites!

funny.....
i was thinking the same thing as sweetpretty's..
correction, i was thinking that george was a cow and a bird was behind the cow's neck..
A Very creative brain teaser, Very good
This is a good teaser. Now, I shall tell the Truth. Who would ever be expected to Guess George Washington? Some type of "Road Kill," like a Possum, Rabbit or Squirrel would have had a more profound effect, but George Washington flat as a pancake b/c he is on a coin? Real Funny. Keep them Coming. Great Teaser for those in the NO way.
I agree with Mad Ad, you said Face Down in the Street, as though a quarter was found. Still Silly, but Good.
Good one. HARD
its hard if your english
great teaser!!
had no clue, but very fun
had no clue, but very fun
I was thinking that George was roadkill(The bird being a vulture, the person finding him being one of those roadkill-picker-upper-dudes). Demented? You be the judge.
Only for Americans!!
the only comment I have for this one, is that unless yoou are familiar with the American quarter, you wont get it. There is a slight cultural bias to this one.
LOL, but I thought of a dollar bill!
Very cute, but easy.
that's hilarious. whoever made that one is a genious.
I thought Curious George was perhaps a bit too curious and now birds were pickin' at his brains. I didn't give myself any time to solve this and so I didn't get it. BTW, coins ARE squashed flat when they're made, aren't they? Good One.
I thot a dollar bill!! It's close though, rite??
I was thinking Curious George
precious1026, I was kind of thinking roadkill too. The bird would be a vulture.
I thought it was a bug.
Though I solved it easily, living a close to the US as I do, this teaser was very geo-dependant. (yeah I know not a real word). For those who are familiar with US currency, it was pretty simple
I can't believe that anybody living in the U.S. would need more than 5 seconds to get this one.
Oh my gosh! Ho Hum!!
The teaser was okay but could have been more challenging. I got it very easily.
Yes, as most people stated, I as well got this one very quickly. However, in my case -- and I wonder how many others' -- I believe this was largely due to having heard similar riddles in the past. Not so much "easy," just cliché. If I had never heard anything like it before, I'd probably not have gotten it.
One more thing. Just throwing in my two cents (that brings it up to 27 cents then, right?), but I don't so much like the clue which says that he "must have been there a long time" because he's "cool to the touch." The goal of a tricky riddle like this should be to mislead, but only within the bounds of sensibility. In other words, if I read the teaser, knowing the answer already, it should make sense for that answer. A coin doesn't have body heat, so I would never say "that coin must have been there a long time, because it's cool to the touch." ... Maybe there was an unknown detail, like it fell out of someone's pocket, and so previously had warmth from the person's body heat.

Then again, I suppose it's simply a very metaphorical, and not literal, riddle in the first place -- i.e., calling the face a "he," and saying that "he" is "dead" just because the person represented by the metal is a dead male. So it's all good in a sense, I suppose.
The "squashed" threw me off. I thought it was a pumpkin after Halloween. Anyway it was fun.

This one's outdated now that we have the state quarters.
I got an egg
Coins aren't squashed.
could just suggest that this teaser would be better in the trick section?
anyways awesome teaser had me for a bit, then i looked at the hint and then i figured it out
