Brain Teasers
Cube Root
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Why did a man put two cubes in a glass of water? The cubes are not ice cubes or sugar cubes and no drink or refreshment is involved.
Hint
Dropping the cubes in the water could save him a lot of money.Answer
The cubes are a pair of dice to be used in a craps game. If they are loaded, they will always sink to the bottom of the glass with their heaviest side down. This is a way of checking that the dice are fair.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

I got this without the hint, I read about it once or twice.
Does that mean fair dice will float? Or will they spin while they sink? I've never gambled so I wouldn't know.
normal die will also sink but with a different number at the bottom each time
huh? I thought that that there was no drink of refreshment involved, so what do the dice "Float to the bottom of the Glass", (surely sink) in. Even water is a drink or refreshment.
I assumed it was effervescent cubes for cleaning dentures!
This was a nice situation teaser. So many either have numerous possible answers or are so easy that I don't call them a teaser. They're just a little story to read.
Thanks for bringing the quality up.

mad-ade is right, water is a refreshment
Excuse me, CRAPS game?
@Donald, craps is a common casino game played with two dice. Google it.
@Mad-ade et al, if there is no intention to consume the water, then it is not a drink or refreshment.
