Tinman and his wife, Tinmanette, are made from pure copper. They are able to maintain organic life by means that are still unknown to mankind. But let's move on.

Tinman was looking off into the horizon and saw a horrific storm coming his way. Where he is standing it is all sunshine, but clearly the storm of the century is making its way to his house. Even so, he stayed outside to watch it as there were hundreds of lightning bolts shooting every which way inside the storm. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck him. Tinman's wife, Tinmanette, saw this through the window and rushed outside to see if he was alright. She brought him back into the house to keep him safe. She called the police and told them that there was lightning coming from over the town. The officer said that it was coming from the storm.

Who was right? Was Tinmanette correct with her theory that the lightning was coming from right above the town or was the policeman correct in saying that it came from the storm, even though it hadn't hit the town yet?

Answer

The officer was right. Lightning can shoot out the side of a storm and hit something miles away from the actual storm. And since Tinman is made from solid copper, he was practically asking for it.
