Brain Teasers
The Elephant's Tree
Trick
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
On one side of a river, there is an elephant. On the other side, there is a peanut tree. The elephant really wants the peanuts, but he is too heavy for a boat, can't swim, there is no bridge, his trunk isn't long enough to reach, the river is too wide to jump across, too deep to walk across and the ends are miles away. How does the elephant get to the peanut tree?
Answer
There is no such thing as a peanut tree!Hide Answer Show Answer

You just said the elephant wants the peanuts, which means it doesn't have to be a tree, but a peanut stand of sorts o_o If you changed the wording around a little bit such that the elephant never recognizes the peanut tree, but you tell US about it, then it's a pretty darn good riddle.
kind of a waste of time, not clever
hmm i don't think it's very clever and it said how does he get to the peanut tree
you clearly state theres such ting as a peanut tree

I have to agree - in the set-up you tell us "On the other side, there is a peanut tree." Therefore, making the answer, "There is no such thing as a peanut tree," is a cheat, not a trick. Your set-up tells us to disregard our knowledge that peanuts grow on vines, underground. In this elephant's universe, peanut's DO grow on trees. Sorry, but this one doesn't make it. Better luck next time
i got the answer but it was stupid sry try another one
Don't listen to them, i liked it, who cares if you said he wanted to get to the peanut tree, there better judgement should have helped them sovle this riddle. goo job!
good*
I think you had it right the first time, Majher - it was a "goo job". A bit sticky and not fun to be stuck in. No offense intended to the writer, but I don't think the discussion about the "peanut tree" matters either way. It's just not an interesting teaser, regardless - in my opinion, of course.
Good day to all.
Good day to all.
d'oh!!!! good teaser.
we weren't asked to suspend reality. we were given statements to evaluate. i did poorly!

Took me a while to get, but I'm proud to say I did get it
lol... i actually thought it was funny
Haha. That one got me stumped.
Another answer is:A mouse appeared suddenly next to him and he ran, at the speed of light, across the top of the water.

I like the mouse ending!
How cute!

I liked it!
congrats on teaser, I don't know when I'll be able to post one of my own!
Easy
i like that one...dont listen to the ppl who say that you make it sound like there is such thing as a peanut tree bc that is the whole point...you have to trick them into thinking that there is such thing hence the category trick
But you just said there was a peanut tree! So was the elephant imagining the peanut tree? Was it a mirage? If so, then the elephant was probably in a desert. But there are no rivers in deserts! Ha! I win!
lol funny

I liked it I thought it was VERY clever
well clever in a way. But if you state something in your teaser, then it must be real. like a talking fruit in a joke, they dont exist but in the joke it does. Sorry just doesnt make sense to me :/
i really liked it. don't worry, the people who say it was cheating are just jealous because they couldn't complete it. i think it was funny.
I actually got this one, because I know that peanuts grow underground, I think. At leats, not on trees.
Still, good one!

I'd rather you reword the last sentence:
"Is there a way for the Elephant to reach it?"
So the people complaining, won't.

my ans. was
"Peanuts don't grow on trees"
same thing right???

fun teaser by the way
Not much of a teaser...
i think it was a pretty good teaser, better than some of the others i've done... good job
Elephants can swim - in the riddle it can't.
No such thing as a peanut tree - but in the riddle there can be
Jimmy Carter wld have got it!

NB: they may have looked and smelled like peanuts (acorns possibly)
totally fell for that! Good teaser!
Forget the nay-sayers who are just sore @ getting it wrong - I love this teaser!
Sorry I agree with the majority here about stating that there is a peanut tree. Besides, there are peanut trees so the answer isn't even correct. Check out the web site:

Har.har. You got me. Right after I read another riddle about a potato tree and said, 'Those riddles are silly.'
LOL I love it!
It still doesn't answer the question though..How does the elephant go to the other side of the river???
I didn't know peanuts grew on trees, whaen the teaser said peanut tree, I thought I learned a new fact!
Well done, totally caught me out there haha
I didn't like this at all! If you state that there is a peanut tree then it's no good saying they don't exist later. That's like saying that the answer is "There wan't an elephant standing there after all".
Indeed ^^^
Hmm, I noticed that there is no such thing as a peanut tree (In german they are called "Erd-nuss"="Earth Nut"!!) and I guess if someone had asked me this in person I would have mentioned that they don't grow on trees and the questioner should then at least say that I had basically solved the riddle...
But yea, making the answer contradict the setup is no good IMO. If, for example, it would have been a steak on the other side of the river, and the bit about the elephant actually wanting it left out, then "Elephants don't like steaks" would have been a reasonable answer (but a fairly lame riddle...)

Fun, easy and entertaining teaser. I got it very quickly.
