The small resort town of Sonora has a big weekend ahead. Five local venues (Black Cat, Blue Paper, Orange Peel, Red Rock and Yellow Dunes) have been booked to celebrate a different occasion (Anniversary, Birthday, Engagement, Graduation and Promotion) by five different hosts (Bette, Miley, Rickie, Sammy and Toni). Five local bands (Black Sunday, Blue Street Band, Orange Juice, Red Hot Poppers and Yellow Moon Trio, known for their haunting Blue Bayou rendition) have been booked with a request for a specific highlight song (Black Bird Fly, Blue Bayou, Orange Crush, Red, Red Wine or Yellow Polka Dot Bikini) unique to each event.

1. The first name of each song, venue and band are three different words for each event. Miley couldn't get either of her first two venue choices because the celebration for the job promotion had booked the first site and the event featuring Red, Red Wine had booked the second. The Yellow Moon Trio is either the band booked to play at Miley's event or the band that will play at the birthday party.

2. Black Bird Fly is either the song that will be played at the engagement party or the tune that Rickie requested. Either Sammy or Bette booked Yellow Dunes. Red Rock is either the site booked for the anniversary party or the location of the Red Hot Poppers. Either Bette or Rickie are hosting the event that is either the birthday celebration or the one for which Yellow Moon Trio has been booked. Black Sunday is either the band that will play Yellow Polka Dot Bikini or the band that will play at the anniversary celebration.

4. Either the promotion celebration will be held at the Orange Peel or it is the event that will highlight Blue Bayou. The med school graduation party is being hosted by either Ricky or Sammy at either Black Cat or Yellow Dunes.

5. Toni booked either the band that will play Orange Crush or the Red Hot Poppers. The Blue Street Band is either the group that will play at the graduation celebration or is the band that is booked to play at the Yellow Dunes. Black Bird Fly is either the song that was requested at the birthday or is the one to be played at Toni's event. Black Sunday is either the band playing at Red Rock or the band that will play Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

6. Rickie booked either Orange Peel or the Yellow Dunes. Black Cat will either be the site at which Orange Crush will be highlighted or the location for which Yellow Moon Trio has been booked. Sammy is either the host of the promotion or the person that booked the Blue Street Band. Yellow Dunes will not be the site of either the engagement or promotion celebrations.

There is no step 3!

Oops, you're right! It looks like it got blended into #2!

Great puzzle. The either/or clues kept me rereading the clues again and again as I worked it out.
Nov 24, 2009

It happens to the best of us.

Excellent teaser! The either/or clues require us to do some extra reasoning, rather than just allowing the logic-grid to do it all for us automatically. They make it more challenging (adding at least a whole number to the difficulty rating), and thus also more satisfying. Keep 'em coming!

I've been enjoying the struggle for some time now. I will not give up!

Got it! Good job, I generally don't like the either/or ones, but this one had the right clues to follow.

My long strugle paid off--I finally solved it! Do I dare to feel proud?
Dec 02, 2009

Yay! Yes, take every opportunity to feel proud!

I noticed the clue in the intro but was not sure if it was just extra storyline or if it was part of the clues. I was glad to see it was solvable without using it and that it was confirmed by the rest of the clues. I was only going to use it as a last resort. Great job!

I noticed the clue in the intro, but it is not necessary to solve this. This is the best LG I've done to date.

Good job - Had to keep refering back to #1 where the colors couldn't be together.

Nice! Had to make a couple of passes through the clues to process all the either/or's, but it all came out in the end.

caberet - This was a fun one! Very nice job. This is one of the rare grids I printed out to keep track of the various clues. I wish the grid would give us more than 1-2-3 for options.

Great teaser. Have worked it again and again and again, but I will not give up.

Fun puzzle, 'all there' but took some time to sort it out. Thank so much for making!
