Van Gogh's Relatives Return
Language
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.Language
Van Gogh (pronounced "Go") is back, with more of his relatives.
e.g. One of them was a well-known musical cousin from Liverpool, England. His name? Ring Gogh! (Ringo)
From the clues, can you guess the other names?
1. An elderly uncle who plays the numbers game at his community hall.
2. His young nephew who bounces everywhere.
3. A long-lost brother who had been on his yacht exploring a group of islands in the Pacific.
4. An aunt, famous for her milk pudding recipe.
5. His cousin with the skin infection.
6. The teenage niece who wears dark, trendy shades of blue and purple.
7. His Great Uncle Emil, the famous lecturer on self-esteem.
The hint gives the first letter, and number of letters, for each word.

very nice! only knew a few without the hint though. interesting teaser
fun teaser. didn't get sago
Sago? Of course I got E. Gogh, not Prof. Maybe the guy I heard about was only a motivational lecturer. LOL quite fun, thanks.
Good teaser. I didn't get Sago either.
Missed sago and impetigo...very fun!
New and different--good. But not my cup of tea.
Never heard of Sago, either; is it regional, perhaps? Otherwise, got them. (only needed the hint for archipelago, which, as far as I know, is not pronounced Archie, but the 'ch' as in chemistry.) Your basic cute teaser.
I thought Sago was "Jello"---they are known for their puddings too.
I figured sago out, it is a cactus known to produce a milky fluid. I got the hard ones, but not ego.
All in all, a very good teaser. Thanks.

Great teaser. Got all but sago. Thought it was jello.
Yes, Wordmama, you're right about 'Archipelago'. The problem was that Van Gogh's father named Archie without consulting his mother, who was much better educated. When she discovered the error, it was too late - but she always called him Arkie!
Very good teaser. Had fun with it. Thanks for posting.
Got them all except "Sago." Fun quiz!
No sago here
6 of 7 gogh
Don't know what was wrong with me in 2010, but this time I loved it! Only got 2, but thought it was lots of fun.
i figured it was sago with the hint, but i never associated it with milk pudding. i've seen it used to make sago pudding, but not milk pudding. frankly, the first thing that comes to my mind are sago pearls which resemble the tapioca balls used in bubble tea.
missed sago and one other the hints helped somewhat. Learned something again. What sago is. Didn't know that.
Always have trouble usually with these brain teasers. Had fun thankd for posting.

Great pun-based Rebus and I welcome its return to the TODT. Superb job, dalfamnest !!
To those of you who inquired about Dad's TODT of yesterday, the pun-and-rebus game/club is still around even if Dad isn't.
The reason (I guess, maybe) it missed April 01 - the traditional "fool's day - is because of the difference (one day) between US CDT and Thailand.
I think that's the first time Braingle has missed an entire day of the TODT.
Hope it's not indicative of further difficulty.
GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, BRAINGLE !!!!!!
(the BunnyBunch .... STILL laughing !!)

Like most of the other North Americans, I missed sago. Never heard of it.
Needed clue for Sago. But what about Pei Gogh, the Pacific yachtsman? Only one island? (-:

Please accept my apologies. I think I must have been half asleep all day not to realize this TOTD is just a continuance of some of your previous "Van Gogh" teasers.
I checked. My list above duplicates only a couple .... I think .... (man & go?).
And then I realized we'd both forgotten the BIGGIE !!!!!

Missed Sago, but had fun working the rest!
Nice, ezy, fun teaser, thanks!
Actually Van Gogh is pronounced "Van Goff"... only Americans seem to think its "Go"
Fun, challenging and entertaining teaser. I got six out of seven - could not come up with impetigo. I had to use the hint for five out of the six I did get.
