 1/2 * 5 != 5

 The book cost $10 so 1/2 is 5$. The book cost $5 + half it's price ($5) = $10

 I almost said $7.50 but then I realized the real answer. I like the teaser, very clever!

 I dont really care for this one because it says specifically that the book costs $5.00. I don't know how y'all got to ten. I dont mind being explained to

 Come on people, it's obvious that $5 = 1/2 the price of the book.
"A book costs 1/3 of its price plus $5." $5 = 2/3 the price of the book.
Simple, simple math, not clever.
