Brain Teasers
Muddy Socks
A man was going to bleach his socks because they had gotten muddy the day before. As he was pouring the bleach into the washing machine, he spilled some on the floor. He got some cleaning fluid and mopped it up with a rag. Minutes later he was dead. What killed him?
Hint
It has to do with the bleach.Answer

Really?! *backs up away from the laundry room*
I didn't get the exact answer but I got the summery: bleach + cleaning fluid =some kind of pisioning.
I just thought someone could have murdered him on the way out of the laundry
I agree with magoo_girl, I was thinking murder.
I know, it was kind of obscure.
Is this proven true? I knew that he would be poisoned, but I didn't know the actual answer
I'm familiar with the warning. The reaction
apparently can produce clorine gas. Useful
in tiny quantities for killing off microbes in
the water supply. Very dangerous in larger quantities,
where it can do the same to you. It was used
as a poison gas in WWI.

Dawn Dishwashing soap and Bleach will do the same thing. Dawn has Ammonia in it.
IF IT KILLS INSTANTLY WHY DID HE DIE MUNITES LATER?
Well, Maybe it took awhile for the poison to form, and when it did, it killed instantly.

I don't think he would DIE from it though unless the products were extremely strong...
i agree with patymany, if it kills instantly, why did he die minutes later.
first of all, magoo_girl, if he had been murdered it wouldn't be much of a science teaser, would it? but i think that the ammonia and bleach had to mix, which could take a minute, and then they would have to produce fumes, and he could have left the room to go to the bathroom or something and then came back in, took a breath, and died. I don't think that the second he put the ammonia to the bleach he would die. It is a chemical reaction, so it should take some time.
seeing as i am not a scientist, i just figured it was some chemical reaction. science brainteasers just dont do it for me like the good old "3 words that end in 'gry'."
Sorry for being daft, but what other gry words are there I can only think of hungry!
*** First of all, Chlorine Gas does NOT kill instantly. As proof, I submit the fact that I am still alive. And it's used as a *tear gas* not an instant-kill gas
angry
I figured it was gonna be like a trick question or something. That would've made it more fun I think. As for the whole tear gas thing, I don't have a clue about it. -lol- But now I know I shouldn't take the chance of mixing the two.
Angry
that's what i daisd...but that's all i can think of; angry and hungry
dude, you guys are way to smart for me.
O-kay you guys are so critical, for one he was dead minutes later. That doesn't mean he died minutes later
I learned something new;never mix bleach and asomina (or whatever you call it) together. Thanks for this teaser!
You know I tried this and guess what? It's true. I'm dead!
IF YOU MIX BLEACH WITH ANY TYPE OF CORROSIVE/ ACID IT WILL PRODUCE CHLORINE. THIS IS HOW CHLORINE BOMBS WERE MADE IN THE 1ST WORLD WAR. HOWEVER THE MAN WOULD NOT HAVE DIED. CHLORINE IS HEAVIER THAN AIR, AND UNLESS HE WAS LYING ON THE GROUND< HE WOULD NOT HAVE DIED. HOWEVER THIS IS A GREAT TEASER..... IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SCIENCE CATEGORY THOUGH....... Well Done.....Axton
thanx DoubleC that was good.
I myself have mixed these 2 together a bucket of bleach and water and I poured a powder cleaning chemical that had amoninia in it and it fizzed and smoked slightly. and then made tons of noise, so I shut the door to the bathroom with the bucket still in there, Knowing what I had done but forgotten about it at the time and 24 hours later we were all still alive. However it's just a teaser, and a good one, Fiction, Relax people. Maybe his imunne system was bad. It could happen.

OK 1) HE WAS DEAD MINUTES LATER.. HE DID NOT DIE MINUTES LATER.. IF HE DIED INSTANTLY.. BAM HE'D STILL BE DEAD THOSE FEW MINUTES LATER! 2) I LOVED THIS TEASER AND I GOT IT... IT WAS REALLY GOOD!!!!!
I got it right away. I'm still confused about the "die instantly" part of it.
He wouldn't die instantly. A friend of mine mixed ammonia and bleach and the fumes made him sick (he had to go to the hospital), but he didn't die. We did, however, nag him for it for months afterwards...
I mixed bleach, ammonia, Mr Clean, Mop and Glo and it starts to smoke but I kept cleaning the floor, on my hands and knees thank you. soon the room was filled with a noxious fume and smoke when I realized that I did something wrong. I was a mere 18 years old, newly married and trying to be the good wife!!! I almost killed myself for a clean floor!!! Never again!!! And I am not married to that man either!!!
That's really scary...
THAT IS SCARY,MY MOM HAS DONE IT A COUPLE TIMES AND GOT AN EXTREME HEADACHE.
BUT I ALREADY KNEW THIS SO IT WAS EASY.

That's absolutely terrifying 😱😱
