Merry Christmas and Happy New Year all! I am trying to get used to the new (temporary) routine and get used to not having to be out of the house at 7 every day. Weird!
Thank you Shawn and Freddy! I am really excited and can't wait to get it all going. I have made a couple of connections already and am looking into taking a couple of business classes. Fun!

At my school I am in advanced theatre and we are working on a play called These Shining Lives. I am the lead! In two weeks we will be taking it to competition! It is a very depressing play. It is based on a true story. It's about these four girls who work at a company called Radium Dial and they pain watch faces with a Radium Compound. Eventually they got really bad Radium Poisoning and sued the company. They eventually won their case but died soon after.

Congrats Melody on your lead!
My "grand" niece just got a part as an extra on NBC's Revolution. She is playing a homeless person... I understand it is set to be shown on March 25th. She had no experience, just in the right place and the time they were looking for homeless people... She is working towards her Doctrine now and works as a college assistant in her field.

Wow, RGW4, that's pretty cool! I'll try and check it out.
Melody: Hope the play went well. BTW, love your user name!

Oh, the Spelling Bee, the Spelling Bee, I never got farrrrr, in the Spelling Bee.
I always thought "this time I am going to win!" but then, I never did. hahaha! I didn't study for it or anything, I think that was the problem. It always killed me that, if you misspelled one word, that was IT! You were done, out, over, you lost! Seemed like you should get like, three misspells before you're out, or something like that!
Life... can be so many things... how can anyone ever think they are RIGHT? HAhahahahahahaha!!!!! |

The only spelling bees I ever did were in elementary school, during class session. Sorry Shawn, but to have three tries to get it right with 30-35 students, we would have taken at least two class sessions to complete it. Today, it's more like 35-40 students. I did win a couple times, spelling in elementary school wasn't too hard... but of course, it only gave you the "crown" for a week until the next week with new words to spell.
Hope you did well Melody!
I do recall "Principal" and "Principle" were always tossed in, especially when our "pal" visited the classroom.

When did Braingle become so tragically unactive? :/
It makes me sad.
Although, it's probably exactly because of people like me, who lose interest or get caught up in other things. I'm fairly sure this is the first time I've been on here in months.
I'm not sure how many of you around here will remember me, but way back when I first started frequenting this website, I was a wide-eyed 11 year old scouring the internet in the search of brainteasers and found a fantastic community of people who, in some way, helped to mould me into the person I am today. And I'm quite happy with the person I am today.
So, I don't know. I felt like some kind of thank you was necessary. I don't know how much of my target audience will actually read this post, or if this is the appropriate place to post this message, but I thought if I didn't do it now I'd probably never do it, and making my own thread seemed like a far too self-important option.
I'm going to refrain from naming specific users, just out of fear of missing someone crucial, but I think you all know who you are. So, thank you. I don't know how often (if at all) I'll come on here again, but to all of you who I've even had the briefest of conversations with, thank you. In some strange way, Braingle will always be a part of me.

Psychic, your avatar has always been a joy to watch, though it's hard to say pushing people off "cliffs' is an acceptable practice and that jump off the ladder is a long way and NO ONE EVER breaks a leg!
There are always going to be changes in life that affects how we feel about our free time. Some will decide its time to move on, others see it as a place where friendships are formed and leisure time can exist. There are no "fast pace" shoot em up type games that thrill some of the younger generation, and frankly, I think it might be sort of hard to add them here. I admit, I don't get on this site as much as I used to, but mine is because I am a contractor and business has been super busy for over a year now (not every city/state is having economical problems!).
Glad to see ya, hope you join us once in a while!

PM, I certainly remember you. I, too, just came back after several years away (happy to see I have 5 dots now!) I know exactly what you mean about the people here making an impact on your life. Thinking about that impact and those people is what brought me back again. I missed this place and these people. I'm happy to see that some remain, and I hope everyone who has gone their own way are doing well.
If you are interested, I am being interviewed in the Public Forum, come ask me questions! |

Hello and welcome back to you, Psychic. I hope you're doing well. Aye, this site can be a wee more active. It can be slow nowadays, though I reckon those of us less-actives (myself included, lately) help contribute. I certainly wouldn't say no to a bit more movement, if people've got the time.
Oh, and Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone! Good old green.

Hey Psychic! Good to see you back, a few of the old guard have been making appearances recently.
I'm approaching my 10th anniversary here... I'll need to petition Jake for a 10-dot icon.

I have not once seen Jake make a change on the site... maybe its all undercover stuff, but I kinda doubt it will get done.
