Who here has seen the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight"? I saw it Friday, and I was on the edge of my seat for the whole time, save the previews and ending credits, of course. I believe that Christopher Nolan has done a fine job with both installments of this series and I hope he can continue to do so.
The casting was superb; Heath Ledger as the Joker and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent were brilliant and, at least I think, both captured the essence of their characters. Joker, having no back story, really doesn't care about his future either. He just wants to see things "burn". And like his abusive father who flipped a coin to see who would be beaten, Harvey leaves everything to chance(with the same coin, nonetheless), which can result horribly for everyone. Both Eckhart and Ledger exhibited fine acting chops.
What are your opinions on the movie?
SPECIAL NOTE #1: If you post a spoiler, please tell us.
SPECIAL NOTE #2: This is not an empathy forum for Heath Ledger.

Like that's all that can be said. That part surprised me, and at the same time, it didn't because Joker is supposed to be that wicked and spontaneous. I couldn't help but laugh at that part, gruesome as it is.

I loved this movie. It was SO INTENSE!! I like the pencil trick, and the robbery with the bus.

Omg. This move was incredible, one of my favourites. Heath Ledger makes the PERFECT joker!

I just happened to see a midnight showing, but I was actually falling asleep during the previews. However, as soon as the movie started I was fully awake, and I too was at the edge of my seat. It was a spectacular movie. I love Christian Bale...but can't help thinking of Sante Fe when seeing him.

One thing I liked most about the movie is the accuracy on The Joker. He's supposed to have no background, and the movie kept it like that. I got worried when he first did the little "Wanna know how I got these scars?" spill, but then he changed it the second time. I think he does it that way to scare the opposition exclusively, not using the same story twice for fear that it may not be as terrifying if it's sloppy seconds.
I'm not, however, too excited with the way Harvey Dent became Two-Face.
*SPOILER (for those unfamiliar with the Batman comic books).*
In the movie, his face is burned. In the comic book (Batman: The Long Halloween), he is splashed in the face with a cup full of acid. I admire the powers that be for creating a new look on things. I just hope it doesn't develope into a butterfly effect and change bigger things as time goes on.

Yeah, that was kind of gross.
SPOILERS (highlight below) :
I thought Two-face would live and he'd be the villian in another Batman movie...
Also, how happy was I that Detective what's his name (Gary Oldman's character) didn't actually die.
So sad about Rachel, though.

That a really small change though. They just needed a way to fit his burnt face into the script, and that was a more logical way.

Again, more SPOILERS:
I don't think he died because Batman took the same fall and lived. And I know Batman's pretty much a ninja with a cape, making him capable to "fall with style", but still. Plus, Aaron Eckhart (Two-Face) has signed on for one more movie.
Word of mouth says that Harley Quinn will be in the next movie.

You cant have harley quinn with out the joker it would not seem right. What I'm wondering is how they would even attempt to top this batman I mean the performance Heath Ledger gave pretty much made the movie what it was.

SPOILER:
I didn't realize that about two-face. He looked dead to me, so I assumed he was. I also didn't know that Aaron Eckhart had signed on to do another movie. That's cool. I can't wait for it!

Totally. Without him as the Joker, the movie wouldn't have been half as good.

I just saw it last night. It was amazing! I used to watch the cartoon series (best cartoon ever haha) of Batman every day, so I was excited for the movie. It definitely lived up to my expectations. Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker and they'll never find anyone who can live up to that for another movie.
SPOILERS:
I was surprised they killed Rachel and Two-Face off. Rachel was necessary, obviously, to create Two-Face but they left the impression he died. I figured they'd resurrect him. They often do that with these kinds of things. They can easily explain it away, like the funeral thing was to fool the people cause they didn't want to see what Harvey had become and he just went into hiding or they locked him up in an asylum or something.
I thought the thing with the boats was really cool, how neither boat blew the other up. The Joker always lost things like that in the animated series because he never expected the good in people to show. They've stuck pretty close to the characterization of the animated series in these recent movies.

I think this movie took a big cue from "the Killing Joke" only they switched to Harvey Dent from Jim Gordon. This movie felt like the second part of a trilogy with Batman on the run at the end of the film. I'm hoping we don't have to wait more than 2 years for the next film.
In the next film I want to see the new bat cave (it should be finished by then) and I'm hoping in addition to Two Face we also get to see Ras Al Goul again; anyone who's read the comics knows he didn't die at the end of the first movie. And as much as it pains me to say this I hope they go out with a bang in the next film and don't even try to make a fourth film because by that point it won't measure up and will seam to be a pale ghost compared to the others before it.
