If you are a member of the GOP and you don't have a problem with the speeches from Pawlenty, Ryan or Eastwood, you are nothing more then a lemming.
I would love to hear from a lemming defending the crap that was spewed forth by these three.
I'm waiting . . .

Someone help me remember... wasn't the National Debt in the black during the Clinton Adminstration. Oh, those were the days.

(Jaycr, re lemmings, THANK YOU! well said!)
RGW4:
In the George Bush senior days, the national debt was approximately $2000 for every man woman and child in the u.s. at that time...
there is a great site, a dotgov site, that shows the national debt, at any moment, and will let you enter the date and see what it was on that date... if i find it again, i will post it
i spoke too soon, here it is. it must be combined into a single line without the carriage return...
copy paste one line, then copy paste the second right at the end of the first...

or as a clickable
national debt now, and down page, at any date
enjoy

I think Jon Stewart had the best analysis of the pack of fallacy-ridden lies that composed the RNC speeches, especially in regard to the invisible Obama Eastwood addressed:
"But I could never wrap my head around why the world and the President that Republicans describe bears so little resemblance to the World and the President that I experience... and now I know why; there is a President Obama that only Republicans can see."
So true...
During that segment, Stewart also argues that the Republicans' rhetoric harkens back to an idyllic America, which would be all well and good, if that America ever existed. It simply never has. They're basing their current lies on an older lie. It's almost comical in it's ridiculousness.
Don't even get me started on Clint Eastwood's crazy speech. Don't think we should've been in Afghanistan? Yeah, that was Bush, not Obama, quite undeniably. Don't want a Harvard lawyer as President? Probably shouldn't elect Harvard lawyer Mitt Romney, then.
Also as Stewart said, there are plenty of parts of the Obama administration the Republicans could attack, legitimate criticisms. Yet they somehow bypass any kind of reality and go straight for this insane fantasy world. I really don't understand it.

Thanks
Romney says he backs parts of Obamacare and opposes a debt ceiling
This Mitt gets funnier by the day. The key point that Republicans keep slamming Obama over are those policies, and Romney is essentially saying that he will do little to nothing different.

Looks like Obama lost tonight.
Sucks that Gary Johnson doesn't get to be part of these things. He'd destroy both of them.

I'm not sure about that Harry. I watched the debate with an open mind... but after the 4th or 5th question...all I could hear was Romney keep repeating himself on the same few items he felt comfortable with... but ignoring the moderator (who did a lousy job in my opinion - of controlling the time clock) who on the sidelines was trying to hush him because he went over the time limit.
Obama seemed pretty calm.
I admit, I missed the last 30 minutes of the debate, because my dog wanted to walk. Did I really miss that much?
Who won, not really sure. I know I sort of stopped listening to Romney when I heard the same comments on the same subjects - yeah, my dog was an easy distraction to his tax break speech.
I have a friend who ran for our city council last year... and I believed in him... but his major point in a city wide debate by 6 people running for the 2 spots open was that he was an engineer and could help make sure things were done properly. Even I doubted voting for him after that debate because that seemed to be his only claim to fame.
I did vote for him, but he came in 5th... way behind the 2 leaders. Do I think he could have done the job.. heck yes... but his insistence on repeating what he felt was his strong point sort of made him look weak to everyone in the city.
Not sure if advertising that if I (from Romney) am elected, I WILL reduce your tax burden on your income, but I WILL reduce your deductions so the government still gets as much money from you today as tomorrow is the best way to run for office. I know I am not happy with how much I pay INTO taxes. I am no longer middle class, so the politicians can have their special interests... and need more of my tax money (hard to prove in a court of law, so I guess I will not sue the government). With Romney, I absolutely can not expect any break in taxes paid to the government, and frankly, I am tired of paying close to 45 % of what I make to them so they can waste it on their pet projects... and I do not blame either party... they both have their stupid pet peeves!

Romney's problem is that he is too moderate for the conservatives but too conservative for the swing voters. He needs to pick a point of view. Until then, he will only say vague catch phrases to try to please everyone. We saw his true POV last night. He has actually VERY similar politics, the only exceptions being taxes and the deficit.
Obamas problem was that he didnt attack Romney's false claims. Until he does, he is destined to be only a mediocre debater.
Honestly, it didnt tell us much, at least for me.
