Watched the news. So... the US finally got around to a trial.

Our legal system is fairly slow. It usually takes 1 1/2 years to 2 years for a major crime trial to come to the actual trial.

My mother in law tripped on a local sidewalk and she was convinced by her son to sue for at least the medical expenses out of her pocket... and that has gone on for 1 1 /2 years. I think part of the legal system is set up to hope either client passes away or key witnesses pass away so the "bad" guy gets off clean. Not saying anyone is paying off judges or prosecuting attorneys... but...

Alas, that is the downfall of democracy.

I'm particularly biased regarding this case, but I can't say I'm not hoping for the death penalty.

I'm just an ordinary average guy with nothing to lose.

Personally, I think justice will be served. The jury decided to give him the death sentence. He showed no remorse, and I think the case was pretty much cut and dry. I suspect it will probably be 15-20 years before it is put in place, costing the US lots of money... but I really did not ever think he was not guilty.

Though there may be a challenge for a retrial, or some other situation with this case, I feel it is no longer current, so I will be locking this topic. If you feel there is something that warrants it being open/or reopened down the road, please feel free to PM me. I would not hesitate to unlock this topic if someone has a current comment to say about it. Thank you, Mod RGW4
