Can you help me? My teaser got rejected, but I thought it was fine! Will you help me fix it? (No pun intended!)
My teaser:

Category: Rebus
Body: Can you decipher this common saying?
Fix it?-NO!
Fix it?-NO!
Fix it?-NO!
Fix it?-NO!
Fix i t?-YES!
Hint:
Answer: Don't fix it if it's not broke

This is what the editors said:
As presented, "i t" does not appear to be broken.

I know all the answers, I'm just sworn to secrecy.

Maybe you could draw a little picture with a hammer crashing into it?

Seriously, I think it is fine, but that's why I'm not an editor. My suggestion would be to post you teaser (like you did in this topic) into the "Ask a Question" forum, and ask the editors how it would be possible to represent "broken" in a teaser.
You could ask us, but overall, they are the ones going to accept/reject it, so I would take their word for it, plus that's what they are getting paid for. We don't spend good tax dollars on editors for them to not get used!

Try it this way instead:

Not broken- Don't fix
Not broken- Don't fix
Not broken- Don't fix
Not broken- Don't fix
Broken - FIX IT!

Building up some more on Sass's idea, I'd say change the "Broken" and "Not broken" to synonyms of the same so there's a little more thinking involved.

I actually like the original best because it requires a bit of thought (although synonyms wouldn't be too bad), but they were saying that splitting the word apart wouldn't convey that it was broken, which I can agree with. Now if the answer was "if it ain't split don't fix it", then I would say it's perfect.

Oh and yes I know this is very old, but I'm still putting in my two cents.

I'm not sure. The teaser looks fine the way it is now, IMO. Maybe you could do i/t or i-t or something else to emphasize the brokenness of the word "it"?

You might want to post this in the "Ask a Question" forum so that an editor can respond to it. You'll probably get a better insight as to why the teaser was rejected.

I like it as is... the space in "it" is the actual "cute" part. I would just change "broke" to "broken" for grammar's sake, but as Rog pointed out, the way I've heard this phrase is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Maybe you could add another space in between "it" or you could make it capitalized?

How about, instead of "fix i t", maybe "fix itt" or "fix iiiiiit".

But yeah, I see nothing wrong with it. It ain't broke, so don't fix it.

Maybe brainster's suggestion will make more people understand, though

Seriously. And 2101, it's not thee editors who vote on your teaser, it's the general Braingle public, but I believe thee editors have the final say. Did you read the reason of rejection?
