Paladin - thank you for the advice on source material.
However, the second sentence in the second paragraph of your material demonstrate my point. It stataes, "It applied only to those states that had seceded from the Union, leaving slavery untouched in the loyal border states."

I just don't understand how this is opinion, rather than fact.

Just a small note - this is the "Ask a Quizmaster" thread. Your question should be directed at an Editor. You should therefore start a new thread for your question.

Sorry, I have reposted my question to the (I hope) appropriate section.
Thank you for your advice.

K what is up with the little talk boxes and the stupid editors that make them? I mean what is the sense on not even keeping up with your fans that post stuff? If your not going to keep up with it then just delete it and put everyone out of their misery.

Mia,
Your question would be better directed toward the owner and moderators of the specific Talkboxes you are having difficulty with.

Quizmasters have little to no control over the subject or content of talkboxes.

Sorry for your frustration.

In the Warner Bros Bugs Bunny cartoon, the Tasmanian Devil only spoke twice. What did he say and why?

Hi, I was just wondering how long it takes for facts to be under review?
I was just wondering because one of my facts have been "pending review" since ....December I think....
Thanks!

Facts are reviewed by members of the Braingle community that meet certain requirements - I don't remember what they are anymore. If you click on "my account" at the top of the page, there should be a link that says "Human Intelligence Tasks". (If there isn't one, it's because you don't meet whatever requirements there are.) One can review facts there (along with definitions; don't worry about them).

After a certain number of people have approved the fact, it will be displayed in the Fact Box. Be patient.

Nobody ever does HITs anymore...

Question for a Quiz Master
Is there a Quiz Master for the Religion section?

Sorry, Alice, but what do you mean by "deny"? Do you mean they/we returned the quiz for corrections or that they/we rejected it?

It's not at all rare for a quiz to be returned 2 and 3 times to work out all the errors. A rejection usually comes due to plagiarism or because errors have been pointed out repeatedly and never addressed by the author.

Make sure you are very familiar with the Quiz Making Guidelines, sometimes referred to as the QMG. These will help you better understand what the QMs are looking for when they review a quiz.

I hope that helps!

A long time ago, I made a correction on a quiz. The correction came back in my favour, and the quizmaster comment was "corrections made, points awarded". I've just realised the correction hasn't actually been made - whats going on?

For reference sake, the quiz is "Spoons" and the question is about playing football with a spoon....

In the quiz called 'Unique Sea Creatures', I made a correction that got accepted. But when I looked, the correction wasn't there! The correction, if you must know, is that I protested the lungfish being mentioned in a quiz about sea creatures when, in fact, it lives in freshwater.

There are other similar corrections needed on that quiz. The nature QMs are working on a correction that will solve the larger problem with this quiz. It is currently processing. We awarded you the correction because you are correct, however, we did not feel it was appropriate to delete an entire question, which is the only way to correct that question by itself.

On this quiz, I made a correction, saying that the answers to questions 2 and 4 were given away in question 6. It was rejected. I protested it, but they said I was wrong again. But I know I'm right! Can you please explain?

If a quiz has been sent to the quizmasters but not quizmaster manages to review it within 2 months, will the quiz be deleted? (Sorry, I know this is a stupid question, but I just don't know.)

Not a stupid question at ALL! No, the quizzes are not deleted. The difficulty that the QMs are experiencing is one of low numbers. Worse than that, our numbers are dispersed over multiple categories.

It takes at LEAST 2 QMs agreeing on what should be done with a quiz (return, approve, or reject) before you see it again after submitting it. At LEAST 2, sometimes more. The problem is, many of our categories only have 1 QM, so it takes at LEAST 2 weeks for it to be seen by 2 QMs (after 2 weeks, the quiz becomes visible to ALL QMs, regardless of category).

In addition, some current QMs are currently in a transitional stage of their life or dealing with private family issues. Braingle is, understandably, not their highest priority. Also, the QM election process takes a MINIMUM of 3 weeks to elect a new QM (2 weeks with open nominations, 1 week voting). So it can take a while to build our numbers back up.

I am currently running for my 6th category, not out of "greediness", but rather to try and help put a dent in this problem. Still, we need more qualified, hard-working users to become QMs.

Having authored several quizzes myself, I know how frustrating that wait can be to see your quiz again. Rest assured that the QMs and Jake are aware of the issue and steps are being taken to remedy the problem. Till it is, please try to be patient, but NEVER hesitate to ask your questions here. There are no stupid questions!

Thanks! (I wonder if it will be better for braingle if Jake gets rid of the category thing until there are enough QMs to have 3 for every category.)
