I belive so, I mean some side effects I got from a certian med has persisted even though I haven't taken it in about 1.5 years. It has caused several brain disfunctions, and I was wondering if there is anything that anybody knows to help stop these effects.

The question is too vague. Of course 'medicine' or 'drug' has an effect on you, but what kind?

Some of the medicines, mainly depression medicine, have shown to have serious side effects later, such as heart disease, lung cancer, other cancers, and stroke. The medicine remains in your system for years, and there isn't really anything you can do. Depending on the medicine, the company might owe you money, but not all medicines. You see those ones on TV commercials.

That doesn't mean it will happen to you though. Those are probably just extreme cases. And I'm not a doctor, so I might not be completely right.

i think it depends on which type of medicine because some take longer time to dissolve completely than others

Yes yes yes yes yes.
The answer is yes, they can.
I had to do a report in Chemistry a few months ago on the topic of my choice. I chose to do Prozac, because it was really the only psychological-related topic I could find that fit the requirements.
Prozac, and other mood/emotional disorder medications, are nasty.
I'm not saying they shouldn't be used. If you have no other solution, by all means, have a doctor prescribe Prozac.
But realize that the short-term side effects can be worse than the disorder itself.
And sometimes even the long-term side effects.
One of the books I used for my research was a bunch of case studies. Some patients ended up with tics, or other body twitches.
Some had other permanent "adult" side effects.
Some first noticed these symptoms MONTHS after they had stopped taking the medicine.
The moral of the story: Drugs, even prescription, are nasty. Be careful what you put into your body.

If someone isn't careful and follow the doctor's instructions, most likely will effect the person for a long period of time.
Just like if someone abruptly just stops depression meds. That WILL have a bad effect on you.

And even if they do follow the doctor's directions exactly, there are still high risks of side effects.
As much as I hated doing that report, it was one of the most useful I've ever written, actually. I never really payed much attention to how medicine worked and affected everything.
Now I don't even like taking my allergy pills anymore...

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!
Don't EVER just "stop" taking depression medicine.
That's about the worst thing you can possibly do.
I mean, if you're taking an ant-depressant, you're probably taking it for a reason, and a doctor no doubt prescribed it.
But if you want to stop taking it, then tell your doctor.
They will probably slowly start reducing your dosage or the frequency at which you take it.
Or both.
But don't "just stop".
That can be very, very bad...

so can medicine linger, b/c some drugs can last up to 6 months in the body.

My mom always gets mad at me for not taking medicine unless I absolutely need it to function. Now I'm glad I don't.
Does this mean it can react with other medicines and cause problems way after you take them? You know how you aren't supposed to take certain things with other things. Can it still react badly together six months later? That could be very dangerous.

Yes, different medicines could react badly together but you might not notice the side effects for quite some time. It's a little creepy but yeah medicines could be dangerous years after you've taken them especially if you take it a lot. If you used the medicine a lot then your body is used to it, and if the body is used to it being in its every day life then suddenly it's not there, it could cause problems.
Most medicines have side effects that occur in a few weeks but not years but it probably is possible. My great-grandma had chemo treatment and she didn't have any side effects from it for like 4 weeks or so.
